This is like General Motors getting out of the car business.
How sad.

When was the last time you got or sent a telegram? What were the circumstances?

Never.

I did transfer money through WU to a hotel in Venice last year though.

I find it hard to believe that people were still sending telegrams as recently as a week ago.

I got one when I was in a highschool play, sent by my sister across the country. That was over 30 years ago, however.

I only got one, but it was a beauty. I was at home on leave from the Army, awaiting notification of the date I would have to report to California to get on a boat headed for Viet Nam.
There was a knock atthe door, and someone said "telegram".

I reluctantly opened it and read the message. It said;
"Your orders have been cancelled. Report to your former duty station.
Signed: Commanding General, Ft. Belvoir"

A few days later, after I sobered up, I reported back to base.
