Name:HulkName:She-Hulk
AKA:Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, Joe FixitAKA:Jennifer Warren, Shulkie
Creator(s):Stan Lee, Jack KirbyCreator(s):Stan Lee, John Buscema
Origin:Dayton, OHOrigin:Los Angeles, CA
Base of Operations:New Mexico, Northwind Observatory, NY; Avengers Tower, New York, NYBase of Operations:Brooklyn, NY; Avengers Mansion, New York, NY, Four Freedoms Plaza, New York, NY
Teams:Avengers, Defenders, S.H.I.E.L.D., among othersTeams:Avengers, Fantastic Four, others
Signature Lines:"Hulk is strongest one there is!"Signature Lines:"I never wanted this to happen, but now you have to learn the other part of being a Hulk. The part where the people you fight to protect sometimes fear and hate you. And it's the hardest part because sometimes to protect what you love, you have to walk away from it."
Arch-Enemy:Gen. Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" RossArch-Enemy:Titania
Paramour(s):Betty RossParamour(s)Zapper, Starfox, Wyatt Wingfoot, John Jameson (none stand out)
Powers:Hulk is terrifyingly strong, and so damn angry, that his adrenaline seems to help him tap into an extra reserve of strength just when he needs it. With that strenth, comes superhuman speed, insane jumping ability, endruance, and rilly fast healing that renders him largely invulnerable. He's able to swim under water for prolongued periods and despite (or because of) his limited mental acuity, he is resistant to mind control. When not in Hulk form, Dr. David Banner is a genius-level intellect.Powers:Superhuman strength, speed, agility, stamina. She also has a healing ability. While these are all akin to her cousin Hulk's powers, they are mostly considered to be less than his. Unlike the Hulk, though, her personality and intelligence aren't nearly as sublimated when she turns green, and in fact grows confident and rejoices in her form. She can also swap and sustain forms at will, unlike the Hulk. With more control, she is a skilled hand-to-hand combatatant in Hulk form, and a skilled pilot as well.
Weaknesses:When in Hulk form, Banner's genius intellect is reduced to that of a pre-schooler. His self-control is also that of toddler also, and Banner struggles to keep the monster's destructive tendencies focused in a postive direction, but even when the green troll has been heroic, collatoral damage abounds. Banner's transformation into the Hulk occurs when he is physically or emotionally agitated, and he struggles to conceal this as well. is vulnerable to prolongued energey blasts, as the Silver Surfer showed, and, as the Invisible Woman demonstrated, he still needs to eventually breathe.Weaknesses:Certain energy blasts or radiation waves can bring her down or diminish her ability to switch forms.

Re: CPF WotS, Rd. 1: Hulk vs. She-Hulk

She-Hulk is pretty nice.

I spake earlier about my aversion to radioactive green characters as a kid, but that's not the fault of these two.

She-Hulk's fun. She not only brings a smartness and a sophistication that her cousin obviously lacks, but their relaunching of her circa 1990 brought about the re-launching of fun-but-conceptually-stupid criminals from the past like The Circus of Crime and Mysterio, with an eye roll and a wink letting you know she knows she's in a stupid adventure, but hey, let's play with children's things for a while. She works on her thing behind the scenes, practicing combat, and working out in her human form to make her muscles even more powerful in her Hulkie form.

But the Hulk is so primal, that he's perfect, like Captain Marvel was perfect, and it's almost a surprise that it took until 1962 for a comic book writer to come up with him. Every little boy is a Hulk, taking delight in discovering his power to destroy and create mayhem. But by the time you hit your comics discover phase of 7-12, you're in that frustrating "You're a big boy now, control yourself" period, and the Hulk is there to give voice to that id you long to unleash like you did as a younger child. Even that radioactive color of green is the color of grossness that little boys enjoy indulging as long as they can get away with it.

Re: CPF WotS, Rd. 1: Hulk vs. She-Hulk

The reason that there's a She-Hulk is because CBS was considering a spinoff of its awful Incredible Hulk series during its original run, and apparently they had the rights to do that, without compensating Marvel, unless Marvel was able to rush a She-Hulk title to print before CBS could act.

She eventually became a pretty interesting character, and would become much more sexy than her original incarnation. She actually became a fun member of the Fantastic Four for a while, during a time that the Thing was away. I like She-Hulk, but I can't vote against the Hulk, one of my favorites. There are very few characters who could lead me to vote against the Hulk.

Clearly thinking of a different series than the one I know and love.

Re: CPF WotS, Rd. 1: Hulk vs. She-Hulk

I've enjoyed She-Hulk a lot.

Sometimes in private.

But, yeah, the Hulk is a perfect demi-Freudian thing, and a wonderful tragic hero, and a surprisingly rich, complex character over the years. I love the pure, lonely wandering-Hulk mythos, the strange-but-poignant group and team-up stuff, the variegated Mr.-Fixit-Professor-Hulk-Pantheon-The End Peter David material, the florid Greg Pak (World War Hulk) weirdness... I love me some big green/gray/green-and-smart/back-to-green/green-future-dictator dude.

Add me to the list of people who say "There's a She-Hulk?", although I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Based on Signature Lines, She-Hulk is far more verbally developed than her cousin.

So when she Hulks out she just turns green and is still hot looking? I don't buy it.

She becomes hot looking. As Jennifer Walters, she's rather ordinary looking. As opposed to her cousin Bruce, she prefers her big strong green state; she only turns back human when she has to go undercover.

I'll buy the bookish young woman transforming into a eight-foot green amazon. That happens all the time! Just not, you know, a curvy one!

I'll go with She-Hulk; at her prime, she was an incredible metafictional trip. And she was written by Mets fan Peter David.

She-Hulk does pretty damn well for a derivative character, but falls 9-6, because it's a man's man's man's man's world.

I will maintain a "soft spot" in my He-Pants for She-Hulk. And by soft spot, I of course mean precisely the opposite.
