Hey kids, it's abracadabra vs hocus locus in a war of magicians and --- meow! --- former lovers. All this from the DC/Indie Conference's Occult heroes/Gods bracket.

Powers:Has supernatural magical skills, but holds off on using them usually, in favor of his more worldly abilities: detection, cunning, manipulative dealing in leverage. But his knowledge of the occult is vast and dangerous. He's capable of time travel, warp probability to improve his luck, some telekenensis and teleportation and all that mentalist stuff. Also does the stuff stage magicians do: sleight of hand, escapism, dancing with demons, stuff like that.Powers:Super-powerful sorceress, endowed by genetic gifts.
Weaknesses:Doesn't keep friends long, as he can worm and bullshit his way out of situations that they can not. Has a nicotine addiction and enemies in the deepest reaches of hell. He plays these demons against each other to keep himself out of the pit, but… how long can that last? Pipers must be paid.Weaknesses:Can be stopped, or at least slowed, by stopping her voice, which triggers her spells. She can also deplete her powers from overuse.

i like that this one lacks a poll, because they both suck so bad that we should give them both the boot now and advance both Wolverine AND Dazzler.

Spoken like a man who's never read Hellblazer. Sardonic, noir-cum-political-satire at first, then shifting into something more personal-cum-religious once Jamie Delano left... but always blackly funny, and morally... um... complicated. So, so great. And Constantine's a survivor. A scarred, Bushmill's-redolent, ethically-flexible hero, but a hero nonetheless.

Zatanna's interesting, power-wise-- considering her reality-manipulation abilities, she's a dark-horse contender for most dangerous hero alive-- and, ahem, visually interesting as well. Constantine, well, he's barely hanging on. And most of what he touches turns to dust, or something far worse. But despite his better instincts, he keeps trying. It sounds weird to the uninitiated, I know, but the center of this spooks-and-demons serial is the most realistic, flesh-and-blood hero in the damn tournament. Also, Constantine's series may be my favorite grown-up-read among all them funnies. And when the paper-rubber meets the paper-road, the stories are everything, aren't they?

Coincidentally, those were the same words FMan used to justify his voting for Zatanna.

I'm mostly unfamiliar with both characters. I remember Constantine as a supporting character in Swamp Thing; I never read his own title. I don't recall where I saw Zatanna in the comics (was she in Teen Titans?) but I do remember her from Smallville. She gets my mostly uninformed vote.

Any super hero played by Serinda Swan gets my vote. I remember her from Breakout Kings:

Constantine was a far more interesting character. Plus: Alan Moore!

I'm beginning to think LWFS is my doppelganger. Are you an omen of my imminent death?

Pretty much. My favorite thing about her are her reproductive organs and the tissues surrounding them.

Constantine look like a character I'd like, and by Moore, no less. But the hot babe has two "Z's" in her name, so she gets my vote.

i'm beginning to think that the championship round that i thought would have ended up as Batman v Spider-Man is probably going to be more like Catwoman v Black Widow.
which, you know, is OK, too.

Chick takes out the dude in this one. Low turnout for low-profile heroes.
