Two animal-themed costumed crusaders meet up in the DC/Indie Conference's Bronze/Modern-Age Superhero Bracket. Yeah, they got a lot in common..

My vote is for Animal Man. I only know him from Grant Morrison's run, but I enjoyed it. If I remember right, for Animal Man to get the powers of a particular animal, one of that species needs to be somewhere nearby. So I don't think it would be possible for him to get the powers of a pterodactyl, (although in a comic book universe it's possible that he could encounter a pterodactyl) but if, for example, he was at the zoo and saw an ostrich, he would be able to stick his head in the sand. Or something like that.

My vote goes to someone who wants to save our planet, not just one cow. Saving the planet one cow at a time might take too long in an emergency.

I'd like to introduce the Black Canary to the White Salami.

i loved Morrison's run on animal man. But if you think i'm voting against the hot chick in leather boots and fishnets, you're out of your freakin' mind. She and Zatanna should open a boutique.

She's called Canary, and that's close enough, since Oliver is called Arrow. Clearly the colors in their nicknames are left to inference.

next week is the mid season 'finale', so maybe. yeah, they just call her Canary but I don't think they've ever used that on Arrow. And she doesn't have a super-sonic scream, though the show in general doesn't have any 'supernatural' abilities. It's very like Batman in that regard.

I beggeth to differeth. [list]Laurel: What was that word you said before? Sara: Ta-er al-Sahfer. Laurel: What does that mean? Sara: It means "The Canary". Laurel: If you're so far gone and so irredeemable... then why would they know you by such a beautiful name?[/list:u]
No, but she uses an electronic device to project its equivalent.
I think you're behind in your viewing. The town was crawling with supernatural zombies at the end of the season. Plus, they're crossing with Flash and that's one big goofy fantasy zone.

Neil Adams' Black Canary was hands down the sexiest looking woman in comics.

I'm concerned with the use of the adjective "hands-down."

I stand corrected, I forgot about that ta-er al-sahfer bit. Maybe I'm just not noticing them calling her Canary. Those were simply drug-induced zombies. It's a fine line, and clearly they had the Flash in an episode (or two?) but you're not seeing the 'this guy can turn is body into metal' or 'this guy's on fire!' metahumans as much as the super-trained assassin type villains.

Super-strength, super-invulnerable, drug-induced zombies with musculature the density of concrete. This happens all the time in your corner of the natural world? I think TV is totally blurring our distinctions of natural and supernatural. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to feed the molemen.

Is that last page really by Neal Adams? Looks kind of like George Tuska to me.
