Teams don't cover the fundamentals anymore. It's nice to see that, in the old days, they included drills that allow players to be prepared in case they're diving into second base and find that there's a toucan on the bag.

It's going to be a hard-to-solve mystery, not least of all because that is a road uniform. Any surviving clippings from Exotic Birds at the Park Day are likely gathering dust in some other team's pile of historical press notes.

Bosch knew he wasn't going to cut it. My favorite quote from him was when he told Don Cardwell (who came over from Pittsburgh with him for Dennis Ribant), "You're the one who's gonna make the trade look good."
