In the sort of matchup that makes the holidays really awkward, we have what I think is the first husband-and-wife showdown, here in the Aliens Bracket of the DC/Indie conference. As a hawkdude, he has enhanced vision and hearing, and can communicate with birds, orally or telepathically. His electricity power also makes him electro-resistent. Powers: She's got a similar skill set to her partner/hubby. Her wings give her flight, and her belt gives her enhanced strength, quickness, and durability. She also is good with weapons, particularly arcane ones, and has holistic healing skillz. She has a knife which seemingly has the power to reincarnate her and her husband (I think) when needed, which is nice. Weaknesses: He's over-reliant on the mace. It's not only his best weapon, but it also gives him the power to fly. Get that mace away from him and you might do OK. Weaknesses: Like her husband, she relies too much on her stuff, beyond natural ability. Steal her stuff. Also, it's almost never a good idea to go crimefighting with the one you love. It compromises your judgment and gives the baddies leverage.

I voted for Hawkman, only because I know a little bit more about him. They're both intriguing characters; I just haven't spent much time with them.

Hawkman's kind of a dick, IIRC. (And not the fun, Guy Gardner/Tony Stark kind.)

Does Hawkwoman ovulate an actual hard shelled egg each month? Because I'd think that would lead to some serious menstrual bitchiness.

i never cared for either of them, really, until i read the Tim Truman/John Ostrander run on HAWKWORLD. That was a terrific series. And Hawkgirl/woman has grown increasingly more interesting over the years, while Katar/Carter hasn't, as far as i know.

It's a one-vote difference, but in the end, Hawkwoman takes one for the flying ladies.
