Two tightly clad members of the Batman world met as they were always mean to meet, here in the DC/Indie Conference's Batman Family Bracket.

She intervened and a supe was born. How She Came to Be:Living by an ambiguous moral code, Catwoman is depicted as a villian through most of her history, with occasional partnerships of convenience with Batman tilting her toward moral neutrality. She appears to reform following a mindwipe by Zatanna, but attempts to kill Z when she learns this. Nonetheless, after giving birth to a daughter, she seemingly has decided to continue working with the white hats, for now, and so qualifies for this bracket.

Supernatural Powers:None.Supernatural Powers:None
Non-Super Abilities:Black-belt level martial artist. Champion-level athlete. After being confined to a wheelchair, she continues to study martial arts and hangs on to her eskrima sticks. She's got a genuis-level mind, and is a crack computer user and hacker. Tech-wise, she sports gizmos of her own design. But information science is her field and she is hard to top in this area.Non-Super Abilities:"Superior athlete, terrific gymnast, deadly hand-to-hand combatant, and equipped to the gills with the skill set of an expert cat burglar (climbing walls, moving unseen and unheard in shadows, etc.). Her equipment includes spring-loaded climbing pitons and razor-sharp retractable claws.
She's hell with bullwhips and cats o' nine tails. The whips also serve as swinging and grappling tools. She has an empathic relationship with all types of cats --- domestic, feral, and giant ones from the jungle too. She can gain their trust and enter into their tribe and her studied adoption of their character has led to her impressive survival skills. She always leaves herself a way out, in a pinch, in life, and (usually) in love."
Weaknesses:She's a flesh-and-blood human being, who had to be rescued by Batman and Robin a few times early in her career. Now she's a parapalegic and confined to a wheel chair.Weaknesses:Another flesh-and-blood human. She'd never admit it, but her affection with Batman can occasionally cloud her judgment (not as much as his, though). Insists on working in heels.

i don't know who'd win, but i'd pay to see this cat fight.

actually, i do know who would win. so do you.
meow.

oh, and Edgy, you've got a problem with Catwoman's team affiliations. I'm pretty sure she's not with the X-Men.

It was a tossup until I read that Batgirl had been played by Dina Meyer. She gets my vote.

Bad girls in fetishwear >>> good girls in fetishwear.

Also, these Catwoman collections (by Ed Brubaker-- again-- and Darwin Cooke) are sexy, stylish, smart fun.

I was surprised to see Catwoman classified as a hero -- I guess I don't know her full history; at best I would have thought of her as a Batman "frenemy" -- but she's a much more interesting character than Batgirl, so she has my vote.

(There was a time when virtually all super villains wore secondary colors: some combinations of orange, purple, and green. That must explain why Catwoman would be wearing a green costume.)

i always preferred her in purple, and drawn by Neal Adams whenever possible:

Purple is a better choice than green. Not that there are more purple cats than green cats, but purple somehow does seem more cat-like than green does.

This'll come up again when we get to Emma Frost, but lately reformed villains getting ahead of career-long heroes rubs me the wrong way.

I mean, well, Jesus votes that way, but not because boobies.

Re: CPF WotS, Rd. 1: Batgirl vs. Catwoman

oh boy, did i! In fact, there are many images of Catwoman receiving the sort of corrective discipline that may have put on the path to redemption.

As to "hero or villain", these things are not always quite so clear. Punisher? Wolverine? Murderous types seeking vengeance more than justice. But anti-heroes are still included here. Meanwhile, Catwoman's "reformation" is the central issue of her character, and in recent years, she's as likely to be portrayed heroically.

There's this: http://hero.wikia.com/wiki/Catwoman
"Catwoman is the nemesis, anti-hero, and love interest of Batman, she first appeared in Batman #1 spring 1940. Though typically thought of and depicted as a villain, Catwoman has repeatedly acted in a heroic capacity, and in more modern comics is a hero as often as she is a villain, and even when a villain shows consistent moral standards and far more restraint and scruples than any of Batman's other major foes. "

and here she's ranked #20 among all time comic book superHEROES:
http://www.ign.com/top/comic-book-heroes/20

but here she's #1 on the list of female supervillains:
http://www.newsarama.com/15629-lethal-l ... lains.html

so on a close call, i think boobies break the tie and argue (strongly) for her inclusion.

If it'll swing your vote, I'd like to point out Batgirl has lumpy bits, spandex, and red hair.

And the lack of claws has to be considered a plus from where I sit. I understand your dominatrix fantasies, but I draw the line at being cut to ribbons.

Honestly, I draw the line well before that.

It sure swings SOMETHING... but not my vote. Batgirl is hot, yes, but too goody-goody to have the same appeal, too sisterly. A good woman needs some "bad girl" in her, too, if only for some emotional and psychological complexity.

Spandex is not required. In fact, at the sex club Batgirl has to infiltrate to catch Catwoman, even clothes are optional.

Its been happening in comic books since they didn't know Clark Kent was Superman when he put on the glasses.
