Song I Think Of:"The Ace of Spades"Song I Think Of:"The Real Me"
Supernatural Powers:He's sort of an atomic reactor, taking the potential energy in an item, and turning it into kinetic energy. And you know, if you really think about E=mc^2, that's a lot of energy. So he does a lot of damage using only small objects, especially playing cards, because whatever. Anyhow, his touch can make any thing an a-bomb. His ability to tap into potential energy also gives him super strength, speed, refelxies, and endurance, and stuff. His alleged rakish charm is also more than just physical, but a superpower he can generate.Supernatural Powers:Dude creates duplicates of himself (called "dupes"), which go out and live somewhat independent lives (though remain telepathically linked), and then get re-absorbed into "Madrox Prime." This is a complex strategic ability, but it can be offensive, as he as actually killed a dude by creating a duplicate of himself inside the guy. Um, yuck. His ability to split his mind makes him telepathically resistent. His dupes can die off without harm to himself, and as the prime, he can be a douchey little God by sometimes instructing them kill themselves upon completion of their missions. He can accelerate healing from injury or illness by absorbing some of his dupes into himself.
Non-Super Abilities:Highly trained in martial arts, including Savate and Bjutsu. He is a highly skilled card player and can do much card trickery. Also reads the future in tarot cards. Cards, cards, cards!Non-Super Abilities:He fancies himself a detective and a spy. He can pick a lock, knows kung fu, and is good with a gun. He's a polyglot, and (here's a strange thing, Gambit), is also slick with a deck of cards. He's a good gymnast and all his dupes retain his skill set.
Weaknesses:His static field thing can dampen his energy conversion powers. Strangely, his charm ability doesn't work on anyone who knows it. Wears light armor because his skin is just skin. Also has social issues. His charming bullshitter thing is a front for the wounded/abandoned child inside. I'm sure of this.Weaknesses:His dupes aren't always so obedient, and sometimes rebel. Without a special suit, he has trouble controlling the duplication process.

I don't know diddly about Madrox, but researching him here, he sounds awful, creating beings with little regard for the important questions that generates. Do they have rights? Do they have souls? Do you have absolute authority over them? Should you? When any of this has ever come up, it seems to have been as an afterthought.

Nonetheless, he gets my vote --- due to the simple virtue that he's not Gambit. Dumbest. X-Man. Ever.

I don't think I've ever read anything with Gambit in it and I know nothing at all about him other than that everyone seems to hate him. (Is he the guy who throws playing cards?), I only recall reading one Madrox story, his debut in Giant Size Fantastic Four #4. I guess I'll vote for the Multiple Man.

Gambit wears a headband. You can't trust a dude in a headband. Ever.

Re: CPF WotS, Rd. 1: Gambit vs. Multiple Man

as both are "modern" x-men, i have little use for either. But Gambit was played by Taylor Kitsch, who i kind of like and who starred in the tragically underrated John Carter movie. I also like the "lovable rogue" arch-type that Gambit exemplifies. Meanwhile, Madrox never seemed to have much personality beyond his douchieness.

So Gambit it is.

Re: CPF WotS, Rd. 1: Gambit vs. Multiple Man

Madrox was indeed a villain in Fantastic Four, he was also a key member of the rather brief investigative team led by Forge in the early to mid 90's (it was unmemorable enough that I can't even remember if this was X-Factor post-original 5 mutants or X-Force.)
to me his most redeeming feature was that he gave another excuse to have the xmen show up in the fantastic four comics during those dark years that they were out of print before Giant Size #1. i still like him better than Gambit.

Madrox beats Gambit, by the virtue of not being Gambit.

Wouldn't one weakness for someone with multiple selves be Lithium?
(Or was that cut off on my screen?)
