Memories of Teatime

Taylor Teagarden signs a minor league deal with the Cubs, leaving his Mets destiny unfulfilled. Wasn't he supposed to hit a game-winning ninth-inning homer off an elite closer somewhere in there?

He hit a big grand slam for the Mets. That's really about it. It's nice at least that he had that one big moment. Most short-term players never manage to get that.

I was looking forward to the Taylor Teagarden era.

It didn't even last long enough for me to get a shot of him....

You know, you're right. Hitting a granny in his one Mets homer is close enough. That may have been about 105% of his Mets value contributed in one swing right there.

Particularly when the first half d'Arnaud slump + injury opened the door a bit wider, his key to semi-regular ML playing time was merely to outplay Recker.
He didn't.

I beg your pardon, he never promised you a Rose-like hitting acumen. Which is good, because, well...
