Johnny became a guy whose flesh would burn, but he would not be consumed. | How She Came to Be: | Sue, also, was on that same fateful space voyage, and exposed to that same cosmic radiation, turning her into a person who is not easy to spot. | Base of Operations: | Pier 4, New York, NY; formerly the Baxter Building, New York, NY; The Avengers Mansion, New York, NY; Four Freedoms Plaza, New York, NY, | Base of Operations: | Pier 4, New York, NY; formerly the Baxter Building, New York, NY; The Avengers Mansion, New York, NY; Four Freedoms Plaza, New York, NY, | Teams/Affiliations: | Fantastic Four, Future Foundation, Fantastic Force, Herald of Galactus, Fantastic Four Incorporated | Teams/Affiliations: | Fantastic Four, Lady Liberators, Avengers, Fantastic Four Incorporated, Future Foundation | Signature Lines: | "FLAME ON!" | Signature Lines: | "Why can't we just stay at home and be normal?! Jordan | Once Played By: | Rebecca Staab, Jessica Alba, Kate Mara | Could Have Been Played By: | Mark-Paul Gosselaar | Could Have Been Played By: | Janet Leigh | Song I Think Of: | "Fire" | Song I Think Of: | "Invisible" | Supernatural Powers: | He envelops his body in a flaming plasma. From this, ability, he gains the extra ability to fly by using the flame for thrust. He can project flame from his person in streams, balls, and blasts. He doesn't even have to be aflame himself. He can also manipulate falme in his vicinity. He can also extinguish a fire by absorbing it into his person. That's cool. He owns flame!
But wait, there's more! His flame is like a personal force field, in that he can vaporize projectiles coming at him, including bullets! Do you know how hot you've got to burn to vaporize a bullet in mid-flight? I don't, but it's almost unthinkable! How does he not make the whole block turn to ashes? I don't know! This is his "nova flame," the hottest Johny gets.
So, he can fly, so he can swoop in and rescue people. You're concerned that a flaming superhero might burn you when he rescues you? I would be too! But Johnny can handle somebody else while he's aflame, but not burn them! Don't ask me how... I DON'T KNOW!
He's also demonstrated the ability to see at night, by picking up people's infrared signature, but really, compared to what he does when he goes "FLAME ON!" that's Cub Scout stuff. | Supernatural Powers: | Sue is one of the most underestimated and underestimable supes you'll get. She turns invisible. That's cool, you may think, but it's a purely defensive power. Good for spying, too, maybe. But can she turn her clothes invisible? Yes she can, for what she is doing is bending light around her aura. So she can turn other people and things in her vicinity invisible. This ability has been estimated to stretch up to 40,000 cubic feet of her environs. She can walk into enemy headquarters with some serious megatonnage and walk right out.
But shit, there's more. Sue, in a nominally related (but really not) power can generate and project a REALLY powerful force field. Again, you may think ""defensive power,"" but it's not just a shield. She can shape it and manipulate so that you're staring into her fetching eyes and she's hitting you in the back of your damn head. Once, The Incredible Hulk kicked her teammates' asses, looked at her, and and walked away, Hulk not thinking this petitte female was worth his green time. A few steps later, Hulk fall. Hulk unconscious! — having been victimized by a force field helmet she put around his head. Even the Hulk's gotta breathe. So yeah, there's ONE member of the Fantastic Four that has beaten the Hulk. Sue Storm.
Sue's force fields are alterable, sometimes strong enough to block missles or lasers, sometimes permeable to let in Oxygen. Sometimes they can even be opaque. So much for invisible. Wanna know what's sick? She can form a force field within a target, and then expand it, so the target explodes. YUCK! Not mocking ""The Invisible Girl"" now, are you?
Her ability to manipulate these force fields are almost Green Lantern-like, as she can create crude-but-effective constructs both small and large — knives and darts and hammers and shit. Need stairs to climb to the next floor of a building? Just put one foot in front of the other, and Sue has you covered. Wanna fly? Sue will put invisible discs under your feet so that you're seemingly walking on air.
Initially Sue seemed like the weakest member of the Fantastiks. It's been common knowledge for a while now that she's probably the most powerful. | Non-Super Abilities: | The Thing has trained him in hand-to-hand combat so that's good. He's also a crack x-treme sports enthusiast, a skilled race-car driver, auto mechanic and designer. | Non-Super Abilities: | Sue is pretty good at hand-to-hand. She was trained by Iron Fist and he's no slouch. Thing and She-Hulk have also touched up her skills. She's a good leader and provides the heart and moral center of the team amid Reed's cool detachment, Ben's occasional bouts of self-pity, and Johnny's cockiness. | Stuff: | He's supposed to have stuff? | Stuff: | Her force fields are her stuff, and they're good stuff to have. | Weaknesses: | His flame thing is dependent on their being sufficient oxygen in the atmosphere to consume. It can also be extinguished if you’ve brought enough water or other flame retardants. So bring enough. | Weaknesses: | She's pretty powerful. But she IS the only member of the main members of the team who doesn't have some invulnerablity in the body, just having mushy flesh instead of rubbery, rocky, or burning flesh, but good luck getting past the aura of invulnerabilty that is her force field and invisibility. I guess one weakness is that her abilities only work as long as she can maintain concentration, so try and get her distracted, or wistful, or sleepy. |
