xIGT Fri 3/6 DET at NYM: The ReHarveying

Mar 05 2015 08:31 PM

First televised game of the season (SNY) and the triumphant (let's hope) return of Matt Harvey to game action.

I will be at work and recording it, to watch with Fboy on the DVR after dinner tomorrow night. Ah, sweet, sweet televised Mets baseball.

I'm not ashamed to say it: it's just mid-morning, and I'm partially Harvey-rect.

(Maybe I should be ashamed to say it.)

Something like a high-end lineup out there.

Lennerton and his Lincoln beard get blown away. Harvey seems to be staying within himself.

Both teams have a Castellanos.

Well, that was perfect. Seemed to try too hard with a 99-MPH fastball on his next-to-last pitch, and OF COURSE dropped the hammer for strike three on his next pitch.

Syndertime.

Familia still flaking on throwing to the bases.

d'Arnaud still letting the high sailer get away from him.

Shot on the bench of Bobby Parnell sucking on the end of his beard.

Familia not having trouble with his pickoff move, though.

Unless 'letting the high sailer get away from him' is code for something Daniel Murphy wouldn't like.

[list]Here are some words that strike terror in few
Tejada to Flores to Soup
A trio of Mets that just failed to turn two
Tejada to Flores to Soup
Ruben's delivery was up by the eye
The transfer was spiked then as Wilmer let fly

Meanwhile the Tiggs just turned their second-screw-everything-up-but-still-succeed double play in as many innings.

This Duran guy is an asset against lefties. Hides the ball in his back pocket until his delivery.

Re: xIGT Fri 3/6 DET at NYM: The ReHarveying

Got the game on my car radio on WOR - I guess MLB At Bat has the internet rights, so WOR on TuneIn can't carry it. I got used to the Rangers, who are on ESPN radio even on TuneIn. I've re-upped for MLB At Bat now. Eventually, I got to the gym and saw the latter part of the game on TV while on the treadmill. It was baseball, and it was the Mets, and it was wonderful, even with some sloppy play in the field.

Happy Harvey Day!

Re: xIGT Fri 3/6 DET at NYM: The ReHarveying

Yeah, the fielding and base running looked very March 6. But Keith wasn't ripping them for it, so if he's willing to write it off to winter rust, I'll accept that. But Darling was very insistent about Jeurys having a mental block with throwing to the bases. So that may be something to watch out for.

Elsewise, I'm feeling very ReHarveyed. Kinda funny to see folks around the beginnings of internet buzz for Reynolds as opening day starting shortstop.

I watched the replay online, and he really destroyed that ball. Maybe it was just some scrubeenie serving it up but I'd like that kinda pop from my SS. That's not Tejada, that's for sure.

Mar 07 2015 08:21 AM
Re: xIGT Fri 3/6 DET at NYM: The ReHarveying

It hasn't really been him either (yesterday afternoon excepting). I mean, Tejada had a better home run rate last year, and he didn't have Vegas and the rest of the PCL to help him.

If we want a slugging shortie, Flores remains our go-to hope.

Not to detract from yesterday's shot, which was slugged indeed. Hey, was Reynolds one of the Barwis Boyz?
