She was found and raised to be evil by Mystique (who does that sort of thing), but reformed and joined the X-Men.
How He Came to Be:A strong farmboy growing up on a Soviet-era collective farm, Piotr was a poetic and reflective artist, content with a life of hard work, and philosophical reflection even after the emergence of his mutant abilities that appeared as he matured. Supernatural Powers:Rogue can absorb the powers, energies, memories, knowledge, talents, personality and physical abilities (whether superhuman or not) of another human being (or members of some sentient alien races) through physical contact of her skin with the skin of the other person. This transfer is usually temporary, lasting for a period of time relative to how long contact is maintained, but the transfer may become permanent in certain cases. For example, she absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers permanently. This power can be lethal.

As she has carried Ms. Marvel with her much of her story, this generally gives her super strength, invulnerability and flight at her disposal.
Supernatural Powers:Colossus is a mutant with the superhuman ability to convert the tissue of his entire body into an organic steel-like substance. As he is a big, big boy to begin with, being made of steal makes him a serious danger to man and beast, not to mention nearly completely invulnerable. We're talking about superhuman strength, stamina, and durability. He can sustain this state for an unspecified duration.
Non-Super Abilities:She doesn't need too many, but she can drive a bike.Non-Super Abilities:A disciplined mind, he remains in control of his power and uses it more mindfully than many of his teammates. He's a talented artist (pencils and paint) and capable poet. He's also an excellent combatant, and has held his own with his fists even when stuck in his fleshy form.
Stuff:She's got a bike and a leather jacket.Stuff:Bah, stuff.
Weaknesses:Absorbing all these parts of the personalities of others can be confusing and disorienting, and Ann Marie never had a stable personality to begin with. Also, for most of her story, she has no control of her power, leaving her unable to touch anybody without putting the whammy on them. This leads to a heightened alienation and intense frustration at being horny but unable to so much as kiss anybody without them instantly blacking out (at least!).Weaknesses:He's at times become suspended in his steel state. Plus, I dunno, maybe he's vulnerable to rust.

2 characters i never realized how much i liked until forced to vote for one. Can we keep them both and just eliminate that stupid Question Mark Man again?

Re: CF WotS, Rd. 1: Rogue vs. Colossus

Pretty much a push. I'll go with Rogue, if only because her powers-- and their attendant complications-- are so much more interesting.

Re: CF WotS, Rd. 1: Rogue vs. Colossus

I went with Piotr. His Russian accent isn't nearly as annoying as that dialectical English they write for Rogue.

Of course, Gambit's is even more annoying (Mark Twain does not write for Marvel), but speaking of Gambit, she loses even more points for relationshipping with that guy. Piotr's heart belongs to Kitty. That's class.

Colossus has cool powers, but Rogue is a far more interesting character, so she gets my vote.

Fair point. Don't think I didn't consider the Kitty connection. (Also, do you dock points for Rogue's latter-day Magneto dalliances, or give her points?)

She's rather the romantic flake. I like my women more thoughtful.

She's a flake full-stop.

Pete is a dull, simplistic character. Rogue has had a more interesting, complex life. Plus, boobage.

G-man has style, charisma. Pietr has... what exactly? A yen for tractors?

This guy really brings out your fangirl.

Gambit's a completely derivative stereotype. He throws cards at people. CARDS! The least aerodynamic thing in the world. Just 'cuz... that's the way we do it down in de Big Easy, Chere. He's a load.

On the other side, we've got art, poetry, and deep sense of loyalty even to those who have continually tested it. All belying the nature of a man born with the gift to make his own rules. That's complexity.
