Re: xIGT 3/17 - FishMets

Mets going with their juiciest lineup of the spring, using seven of eight expected opening-day starters and the reigning rookie of the year.

No runs yet through two. deGrom has whiffed two and allowed a single hit.

deGrom sails through four innings on about 39
pitches. Sweet!

Upper-decky Plawecki puts the Mets ahead with a clout!

Re: xIGT 03/17, Marlins at Mets

So you suckers missed a game here. deGrom went five innings and faced the minimum, only to see his team fall behind due to a conspiracy of Rice, Goeddel and Familia. But the team stages an awesome comeback with five in the eighth:

MIA 4, NYM 1.[/list:u]

Pitching Substitution: Mike Dunn replaces Andre Rienzo.

Defensive Substitution: Tim Federoff replaces left fielder Reed Johnson, batting seventh, playing left field.
=#FF0000]One out.[/list:u]
1. =#0040FF]Matt den Dekker strikes out swinging.

2. =#0040FF]John Mayberry walks.

3. =#0040FF]Kirk Nieuwenhuis hits a ground-rule double (5) on a flyball to left center field, =#0040FF]John Mayberry to third.

4. With =#0040FF]Brandon Allen batting, wild pitch by Mike Dunn. =#0040FF]Kirk Nieuwenhuis scores.
MIA 4, NYM 2.[/list:u]
5. =#0040FF]Brandon Allen out on a fly ball to center fielder Jordanny Valdespin. =#0040FF]Kirk Nieuwenhuis scores.
MIA 4, NYM 3.[/list:u]
=#FF0000]Two outs.[/list:u]
5. =#0040FF]Wilfredo Tovar on a ground ball to left fielder Tim Federoff.

6. =#0040FF]Wilmer Flores walks. =#0040FF]Wilfredo Tovar to second.

Pitching Substitution: Preston Claiborne replaces Mike Dunn.

7. =#0040FF]Johnny Monell homers to right center field. =#0040FF]Wilfredo Tovar scores. =#0040FF]Wilmer Flores scores.
NYM 6, MIA 4.[/list:u]
8. =#0040FF]Kevin Plawecki flies out to center fielder Jordany Valdespin.
=#FF0000]Two outs.[/list:u]
NYM 6, MIA 4.[/list:u][/list:u]

Other notes:
Neither Rice nor Goeddel distinguished themselves in the quest for the last bullpen lefty and righty spots.

Steven Matz pitched only one inning, despite pitching effectively. If you're looking for a sign that the Mets might be considering him for the pen, well, there you go.

[/*:m]

We have a Murphy-Flores-Duda double-play in captivity.

[/*:m]

Monell's homer was the third of this spring, and reign of Recker has to be considered to be in grave danger.

[/*:m]

Brad Hand is the Dillon Gee of the Marlins — or at least what Dillon Gee was 24 hours ago — a perfectly viable big league starter waiting for an injury to return him to the rotation, the number six starter on a five-man staff. But the Mets did little against him, despite starting seven of their eight expected opening day players.

[/*:m]

The Mets St. Patrick's Day hat was understated this year — solid kelly green with the NY insignia and beanie button in Ulster orange. No Mr. Metprechaun.

Mets put a video of Plawecki's homer and both Plawecki's grandma and Muno's mom have seemingly appeared in the thread.

Watching this. Plawecki : Nice pop from a tight swing. Monell: That was a shot!

Murph: Oy, I'm your biggest fan but how could you let Valde beat you on a rountine grounder? Come on! Get your head in the game! Charge that shit!

Watched the replay, some enjoyable spring baseball. DeGrom is lights out right now.

Who is the blonde taking over sideline duties, whats her name? She`s the goods.

Alexa Datt. She was one of the 'hey, come out to Citi and get a Mets fedora!" girls last year on SNY.

They've sorta sprung this on us, so i'm unsure if she's just sorta a "who cares, it's spring" fill-in or if she'll get to actually do stuff this year. I'm hoping for that, not enamored with Gelbs.

Re: xIGT 03/17, Marlins at Mets

A cynic might say they've bumped her into the spotlight
so they can say, 'look, we're gender proactive, we have a
woman broadcaster on our team-owned network.'

She's nice to look at, and asks good questions. Hope she
stays on.
