xIGT, 3/23, Mets @ Marlins

It's not my place to put up this thread, but it hasn't gone up yet, and it oughta, because the Mets just dropped and 8-ball on the Marlins in the second inning.

Any day where Mat Latos gets smacked around is a good day as far as I'm concerned, whether in spring training, regular season, post-season, the parking lot outside a Trader Joe's, doesn't matter.

2 2Bs 2day for Recker ... but will it be enough to secure his spot on the team after a 4/27 (1 XBH) start to his Spring -- especially vs Monell's .379/.419/.724 month of March?

See, and I'm here wishing it was Tom Koehler.

Wait, are we sticking with the the whole 'win one and put it up forever' streak there here in spring?

I'm a believer in that protocol.

For the regular season, gotta go with it.

Wild pisch by ex-Met Pat Misch and the Mets have double digits in runs.

Four innings and two earned runs for deGrom.

Holy moly. Two-run homer for Muno.

Well, sure, but that's just to annoy Seawolf. Latos: Nasty attitude (including towards teammates at times) + an absurd and growing number of tattoos on a body w/skintone whiter than mine = Asshat
What was Ronnie saying yesterday? Best BA & OBA in MLB this spring. I know you can't count on that to continue all year but it's at least evidence that they've got a decent chance to be closer to the top of the heap than the bottom in them categories. THREE doubles for Recker this afternoon.

Am I reading this right? 3 doubles now? I kinda figured Recker was going north with the team no matter what.

Granderson is looking much better this spring. Hope that carries over.

Monell replaces Recker. I'm not sure if that was planned or the Mets are adhering to some sort of mercy rule.

Not sure why he should have it sewn up. I mean I'm sure everybody likes him and all (plus he ups the team's runway model quotient), but Monell iis hitting better, hits left-handed, and is 2-1/2 years younger. I admit to knowing nothing about Monell's defensive qualities, but if they're even remotely comparable with Recker gives you it's not like we're going to miss the .201 BA/.246 OBA we got from the big boy last year.

From what I've read Monell hit more than well enough to make the Orioles a few springs ago but Buck couldn't abide by his D.

Special congratulations to today's floaties, pitcher Chase Huchingson and catcher Jeff Glenn, who each made their debut with the SpringMets. Huchingson pitched a scoreless ninth.
