Re: Forum Temperature: den Dekker for Blevins

Went with 'Like' not because I have great hopes for Blevins but because it's a swap of two role players where the one we're giving up is a redundancy who wasn't going to make the OD squad anyway in exchange for a position of immediate need, even if only a specialized need.
Dealing a strength for a weakness, it's hard to argue against that.

Indifferent. Den Dekker had strengths, but they were all redundant within the org.

Hopefully, Blevins can continue to get lefties out for the blue and orange in 2015.

I'm indifferent too. I suspect that den Dekker would have continued to slip down the depth chart if he had stayed, and Blevins may turn out to be a one-year rental. If he pitches well, and the Mets make a serious playoff run, then it will have been a good deal.

I took like, but would have took somewhat like if available.
They needed some lefties, they got some lefties.

Yeah. This is where I am. I think it's a good trade but den Dekker wasn't worthless and Blevins might turn out to be. But it's unlikely to be bad either.

I like it. Both trades yesterday have me rethinking my win total forecast.

Den Dekker's been a member of the FasterStronger household for nigh on six years now, and I do love me some defense with an elven face on it.

That said, this is the kind of trade winning organizations make. Even if Blevins turns out to be crap-- and all indications are that last year's ERA is more of a function of batted-ball luck and Matt Williams being kind of a field-management dummy-- and den Dekker outpunches his current weight, well, it makes sense at present and seems a proper value-fit.

Fair deal.

If we didn't have a Blevins to retire Freddy Freeman on strikes we'd need a den Dekker to go into the gaps and collect the hots off the wall.

I can only like this until I see what Blevens gives us on the field. But starting at like is a good way for him to start.

I'm good with this. den Dekker was a redundancy at this point, and we needed Blevins' arm.

den Dekker had become a tool. Great trade.

Went with like. den Dekker was too far down on the depth charts and wasn't going to make the squad, not with Niewy out of options. Hopefully Blevins isn't a big pile of poo.

Traded something we didn't need for something we did need. Works for me.

Blevins sitting with .36 WPA and den Dekker cruising with -0.06.

The trade is young, but... .
