IGT #18 4/25 Get right back up and start new streak @NYY

I like these 4pm Saturday starts. Right now planning on watching the game with a Meetup.com Mets fan group at Whiskey Rebel, 129 Lexington Ave between 28th and 29th in midtown Manhattan.

Just dust off, get off the mat and start a brand new streak guys!

NY Mets at NY Yankees
When: 4:05 PM ET, Saturday, April 25, 2015
Where: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York
SportsDirect Inc.

The New York Yankees finally cooled off the red-hot New York Mets and will go for their fifth consecutive victory in the middle game of the Subway Series on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees improved to 7-1 in their last eight games with a 6-1 rout in Friday's series opener, snapping the Mets' franchise record-tying winning streak at 11 games.

CC Sabathia will oppose unbeaten Mets ace Matt Harvey in a high-profile matchup of two pitchers returning from major injuries but headed in opposite directions. Harvey missed last season following Tommy John surgery while Sabathia was limited to eight starts before undergoing knee surgery. Mark Teixeira belted a pair of homers and Jacoby Ellsbury added a solo shot as the Yankees scored at least five runs for the ninth time in 12 games. The Mets, who own the best record in baseball at 13-4 and amassed 57 runs in their winning streak, were held to their lowest run total since a 2-1 defeat at Washington in the second game of the season.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1, SNY

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Matt Harvey (3-0, 3.50 ERA) vs. Yankees LH CC Sabathia (0-3, 4.35)

Harvey admitted he "ran out of gas" on Sunday against Miami while dealing with flu-like symptoms but earned his third straight victory despite permitting four runs on eight hits in six-plus innings. He gave up three runs, including a pair of solo homers, over six innings to beat Philadelphia in his previous outing. Harvey's control has been sensational - he's struck out 24 and walked one over 18 innings.

Sabathia remained winless despite his best outing of the season, going eight innings and giving up two runs in a 2-1 defeat at Detroit. He allowed four earned runs in each of his first two starts, striking out 15 and yielding 15 hits over 12 2/3 innings in losses to Baltimore and Toronto. The 34-year-old Sabathia is 3-1 with a 2.14 ERA in five career starts against the Mets but hasn't faced them since 2012.

WALK-OFFS:
1. Teixeira, second in the American League with seven blasts, had his first two-homer game since July 9.
2. Harvey, who is battling a balky ankle, fanned 10 in eight innings of one-run ball in his only start versus the Yankees on May 28, 2013.
3. Sabathia has lost his last four starts at Yankee Stadium.

Be nice if he got the ball back, but I'm afraid some YLDB might have eaten it instead.

Yes, although like Terry said in the 'tween-innings FOX interview, they don't necessarily have enough yet.

Re: IGT #18 4/25 Get right back up and start new streak @NYY

Wowza poor aul CC Sabathia (Keith and Ron seem very worried about the big fella!)

OOOPS poor aul Yankees - look at the contract!
5 years/$122M (2012-16), plus 2017 vesting option
signed extension with NY Yankees 10/31/11
12-15:$23M/year, 16:$25M, 17:$25M vesting option ($5M buyout)
2017 salary guaranteed if Sabathia 1) does not end 2016 on the disabled list with a left shoulder injury, 2) does not spend more than 45 days in 2016 on the disabled list with a left shoulder injury or 3) does not make more than six relief appearances in 2016 because of a left shoulder injury
no-trade protection
perks: suite on road trips

If he doesn't hit the DL with a shoulder injury they're on the hook for another 50 million after this season! Yikes!

Or maybe it was pitch #98 at 102, I'm getting confused.

Always fun to come away with a victory at the House of Evil.

More Mets fans there than in past years; might have been as much as 30% of the crowd today. Lots of cheering but no incidents (side note, who thought bat day was a good idea for this game?).

I would have pulled Harvey after 7 innings. No sense having him pitch extra when the game was generally decided. Then when he had the quick 8th, I figured that was enough too. (He wasn't protecting a shutout anyway).

Props to Yankee Stadium security for quickly responding to some d-bag fans in my section. I am a big fan of the text-message narc line at the ballparks. Dropped a dime on them, including their exact seat location and wouldn't you know it, security was there in less than 3 minutes, gave them a stern warning and marked their tickets that any future misbehavior would result in an ejection.

Factors likely going into Terry allowing him to stick around:
- reasonably low pitch count
- next week (Tuesday?) is when Montero is scheduled to make his ML start giving the entire rotation an extra day's rest
- the week after that the Mets have two scheduled off-days (Monday 5/4 & Thursday 5/7) so more extra rest
