Citi Field Power Surge 2015

Daniel Murphy became the fourth Met to total at least 20 home runs at Citi Field on Tuesday night. Here is the updated Top 10.

1. Wright 46
2. Duda 35
3. Davis 30
4. Murphy 20
5. Pagan 15
6. Beltran 14
T7. Hairston 13
T7. Reyes 13
9. Bay 10
10. Francoeur 9

Jeff Francoeur's ninth-inning home run in a Phillies uniform is not included in the above total. Threatening Frenchy's surprisingly entrenched place in the Top 10 are Kirk Nieuwenhuis (8), Curtis Granderson (7), Anthony Recker (7) and Travis d'Arnaud (6).

Appropriate, as Murphy was one of three Mets who made a visit and took batting practice to test the dimensions at the end of 2008.

One of the other two is atop this list. The other is sitting on 10 career homers (including two for the Mets at New Shea) and currently toiling for the Reno Aces.

Duda hit his 36th last night, pulling to within 10 of the Captain.

Td'A's 7th puts him in a five-way tie for 12th with Granderson, Recker, Byrd and Valdespin.

If you're going to play like that, then Francoeur gets bumped up to 10.

Beltran climbs to 15 and Reyes to 14, too. And Pagan to 17(!!).

Just pointing out that it would be nice to get to a time when the top ten CF HR hitters are players who actually call CitiField their home park.

Re: Citi Field Power Surge 2015

I started keeping track during 2010 because home team HRs had been so few and far between. The fences now seem so close upon first 2015 inspection that one might have to actually update the list frequently from here on out.

Re: Citi Field Power Surge 2015

well, Utley and LaRoche are 25th and 32nd in PA at Citi field. So it's not really that surprising, the Mets have just had a lot of turnover and some of the guys that have amassed PA are guys like Castillo, and Turner. Cora, Tatis. Eric Young. Tejada.

Wilmer Flores has pulled into a four-way tie for 20th place among Met Citi Field sluggers by smacking his 5th home run there. He is joined at five by Justin Turner, Rod Barajas and Gary Sheffield.

I'd have to look it up, and this probably isn't fair to Ruben Tejada, but I'll go out on a limb and say it: Ruben Tejada hasn't ever, nor ever will, hit a game-tying, 3-run home run for the Mets.

Ruben Tejada: 7 Career Home Runs 1 leading off, 0 walk-off, 0 tying, 1 go ahead

his biggest WPA added was .117 on 6/4/2014 against Edwin JAckson and the Cubs in the top of the 4th with the Mets up 3-2 already.

Tejaddy HAS hit two three-run homers — both coming during his little appreciated offensive surge down the stretch last year — but interesting, has NEVER hit a home run while the Mets have been behind.

It was everything last night. No Flores = No victory.

But you know what I'm really getting at: Your position (correct me if I'm wrong) that Flores isn't any better a hitter than Tejada is.

Without Flores we might had the offense to win those other three games.

That Tejada is a better hitter is demonstrably true.

What you mean is the level of doubt towards whether that will ever change.

Re: Citi Field Power Surge 2015

"Travis d'Arnaud must be stopped," agreed Jeff Francoeur and Kirk Nieuwenhuis, and they engineered the power-hitting catcher's otherwise dispiriting trip to the DL the day after Travis belted the eighth Citi Field home run of his Met career, tying him with Kirk for eleventh place and positioning him to breathe down Francoeur's neck at No. 10.

Unaffected by the conspiracy is Wilmer Flores, whose sixth Citi Field home run of his Met career boosted him into a four-way tie for 17th place alongside Chris Young, John Buck and Fernando Tatis.

Feel that, Jeff Francoeur? That's Curtis Granderson breathing down your neck to take your spot in the Top 10 Citi Field HRs by a Met derby. Good ol' Grandy hit No. 8 last night, tying Travis d'Arnaud and Kirk Nieuwenhuis (remember him?) for eleventh place.

Also, Dilson Herrera got on the board as the 58th Met to homer at Citi Field and the 18th Met with exactly one homer at Citi Field.

Murphy 20
Pagan 15
Beltran 14
Hairston 13

Bay 10

Don't look now, but Lucas is gaining big-time on David. Wright leads the Citi Field pack at 46, but Duda's coming up fast at 41...and Wright ain't hitting no more home runs anywhere for a while.

Also noteworthy:

• Flores ties Francoeur for 11th place with 9.
• Nieuwenhuis leaves tied with d'Arnaud for 13th place with 8.
• Syndergaard becomes the 19th Met -- and third Met pitcher -- with exactly 1 Citi Field HR.

Jason "Bye-Bye" Bay falls out of the Top 10. Any home runs Jose Reyes hits in the Blue Jays' visit this week will not count toward this total (but might elicit at least one round of applause from certain quarters).

John Mayberry became the 61st Met to hit at least one home run as a Met at Citi Field last night, the 20th with exactly one home run.

Also, Kelly Johnson gets on the board, joining six 2015 Mets with exactly one Citi Field home run (Harvey, Ceciliani, Mayberry, Syndergaard, Plawecki are the others).

However temporarily, Johnson also becomes the 76th Met with exactly one Met home run.

By joining the Citi Field Power Surge, Conforto (not surprisingly) exits Club Hessman, a.k.a. the group of Mets who hit only one home run as Mets. Eight such Mets hit their lone Met homer at Citi Field; four of them are pitchers; three of them aren't necessarily done homering as Mets:

Johan Santana 7/6/10
Val Pascucci 9/24/11 (D)
Jeremy Hefner 5/29/12
Bobby Abreu 4/26/14
Taylor Teagarden 6/10/14
Noah Syndergaard 5/27/15
Darrell Ceciliani 6/14/15
Matt Harvey 7/11/15

Last Met whose only Met HR came at Shea Stadium was Robinson Cancel.

Murphy, should he be heading out via free agency, has 13 home games to catch Ike Davis (who he has now preceded and succeeded at first).

I think I'd prefer separate Citi Field All-Time Postseason Home Run Leadership totals be kept. I've been rubbed the wrong way by smashing together regular and post since the MFYs claimed a 125-win 1998.

Plus what a fun list it will be to start and add to!
