I haven't kept up with these, but we had one of them yesterday.
[list][*]New York 3, Toronto 2 Mets complete the home sweep of the previously white-hot Blue Jays, with a depleted bullpen holding on after Matt Harvey delivered seven shutout innings, fanning six and walking zero.
[/*:m] [*]Las Vegas 10, Salt Lake 6 The Backman Bunch scored in double digits again, racking up 15 hits, with seven or their nine starters collecting two or more. The action began with a first-inning homer by Matt Reynolds. The rout was seemingly on until Rainy Lara faulted in the fifth, giving up four runs and allowing SLC to go up 6-3, before Vegas roared back with seven unanswered runs the rest of the way. Cody Satterwhite and Chase Bradford each threw two scoreless innings to earn the win and the save, respectively. Kirk Nieuwenhuis, back with the team after clearing waivers, contributed a single, a double, and an RBI.
[/*:m] [*]Binghamton 6, Portland 1 A leadoff homer by Marco Hernandez was all the damage Gabriel Ynoa would allow in his seven innings of work, shutting down the Sea Dogs the rest of the way, striking out two and walking zero, because Mets pitchers don't walk anybody anymore, drawing power from the eternal wellspring that is Bartolo Colon. Ninth-place hitter Eudy Pina homered and L.J. Mazzilli racked up three hits and nailed a baserunner at third on a relay.
[/*:m] [*]St. Lucie 5, Clearwater 2 John Gant earned his first win of the season, going 5 2/3 and allowing both runs, while striking out seven. Robert Coles has stepped in nicely as the new closer, following the promotion of Akeel Morris, earning his second save. Leadoff dude and third baseman Jeff McNeil went 3–5, running his average to a lofty .333.
[/*:m] [*]Savannah 6, Asheville 2 The Blue Jays aren't the only ones who can sign Cinderella boys out of the indy leagues, as the Sand Gnats threw their recent signee, Frontier League veteran and Metly named starting pitcher Casey Delgado up against the Tourists (who share a name with the band Annie Lenox and Dave Stewart originally collaborated with). Delgado gave them a Syndergaardian 7.2 innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out 10 and walking nuttin'. Luis Guillorme led the attack with two doubles. Pattersonville, NY's David Roseboom finished up, lowering his ERA to 1.29.[/*:m][/list:u]
Victory is sweet, cool drink.
