A trip down the turnpike for Harvey and crew where they get to bat against,

Cole Hamels.

Knock on wood but the Phillies are several shades of terrible.

Keep it goin Metsies!!

It's a tough ask, but this would be a good time to get Maybone going.

Or they could leave him there, I forgot he was on the team.

Re: I.G.T 5/8 Harvey v Phanatics

The Phils really need to win their Hamels starts -- someone said he doesn't even have starts anymore, he has auditions -- but they're only 2-4 in them so far.
He's pitched well in three of those starts but not in the others and is coming off his worst game of the year: 6 runs, all earned, on 10 hits + 3 walks over 6 innings vs Miami.

NY Mets at Philadelphia
When: 7:05 PM ET, Friday, May 8, 2015
Where: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
SportsDirect Inc.

The New York Mets have proven they can win when they just manage to get a few runs across for their dominant pitching staff. The Philadelphia Phillies, who host the Mets in the opener of a three-game series on Friday, are not putting up much of a fight when it comes to other teams pushing across runs.

The Phillies dropped seven of their last nine games and allowed an average of 7.4 runs in those setbacks as their starter’s ERA swelled to 5.29. New York sits at the opposite end of the spectrum with a starter’s ERA at 2.95, and is coming off a two-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in which the staff allowed a total of three runs. The Mets got some unexpected offense in Wednesday’s 5-1 victory from rookie second baseman Dilson Herrera, who went 3-for-3 with his first home run of the campaign. "When they get up here, you have to play them and see what happens - see if they can figure stuff out on their own," New York manager Terry Collins told reporters of Herrera. "We saw he has the power to do big damage."

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Matt Harvey (5-0, 2.41 ERA) vs. Phillies LH Cole Hamels (1-3, 4.14)

Harvey posted his lowest strikeout total of the young season with three against Washington last Friday but came out with another win as he scattered five hits over seven scoreless frames. The Connecticut native has issued just four walks in 33 2/3 innings to go along with 34 strikeouts. Harvey has never lost to the Phillies and owns a 5-0 record with a 1.60 ERA in six career starts against the division rivals, including a win on April 14.

Hamels did nothing to improve his trade value while getting ripped for six runs on 10 hits and three walks in six innings at Miami on Saturday. The veteran is a frequent topic of trade rumors but is off to an inconsistent start with three poor efforts and three starts with one or no earned runs allowed. Hamels missed the Mets in April and is 8-14 with a 4.09 ERA in 31 career starts against New York.

WALK-OFFS:
1. The Mets swept a three-game series against the Phillies from April 13-15.
2. Phillies 2B Chase Utley, who got two straight games off for a mental break, is 2-for-35 over his last nine contests to drop his batting average to .103.
3. Philadelphia OF Ben Revere is 9-for-19 with four runs scored in the last four games.

Re: I.G.T 5/8 Harvey v Phanatics

Bad stuff 'bout the Phillies in 2015:

- have hit just 15 HRs this season (hell, even the Mets have 19) with 1/3 of them by Ryan Howard.

- Chase Utley [.103/.182/.207] (no, those aren't typos) has 3 HRs, two of them against the Mets in one game (off Harvey and Gilmartin).

- Jeff Francoeur is an everyday player

- Darin Ruf (it's like his family was trying to conserve letters or something) platoons (and plays some OF) with the .220 hitting Ryan Howard ... but is hitting even less (.214) than Howard

- for all their high payroll guys (team = $145 mil) their best offensive player this season has been the still pre-arb Freddie Galvis (making essentially ML minimum) and their best pitcher (by far!!) the $5 mil Aaron Harang (who we'll see Saturday)

- their starting CF Odubel Herrera is a rookie who played just a dozen games in the OF in the minors and only 2 in CF - and yet has pushed Ben Revere into playing mostly LF

- Carlos Ruiz has just 16 hits on the year and 15 have been singles (+ 1 2B) [.232/.321/.246]

- there are three guys on their roster who have a blank year or multiple blank years on their resume: Grady Sizemore (didn't play at all in 2012-2013), pitcher Jerome Williams (gone from the game from 2008-2010) and pitcher Chad Billingsley, who we'll see on Sunday, was out all last year following an eight-year stretch with the Dodgers.

Rule number 1 - don't let Utley beat you.
Rule number 2 - re-read rule number 1.

Since the 2 HR/3 hit game that Ultley had on April 14th, he's had 70 ABs over 17 games. And just four hits.

Pelfrey looks mentally deficient.

Wright looks chronically inebriated.

Reyes looks slathered in lipstick.

Santana looks schemingly evil.

Otherwise, these likenesses are uncanny!

I'm not saying that offense is down, but the third-place hitters are hitting a measly .239.

COMBINED!

This will be only Cuddy's second appearance in the infield for the Mets — a good opportunity tonight for Duda to win the Bench Player of the Month Award with one big clout.

Here's a wallpaper for Iphones. Designed only to be used on days Harvey pitches, as a reminder. Ironically, I would have posted this earlier, but I forgot it was Harvey Day (I don't have an Iphone).

I hope one of his nicknames sticks. I prefer Face Buttley.

BOOOOO@Mets
Disappointing. I knew there was a chance we'd see the good Hamels tonight, not the shitty one. He gets up for the Mets.

Mostly the bats were less than harvelous.
That's 3 runs scored or fewer in 8 of the last 10 -- not going to win a lot with those numbers.

Other stuff
- didn't like Harvey bunting w/runner on 2nd and a 3-2 count. Swing away and maybe you'll get the runner over anyway and you might even get a hit by accident. If he could hit OR bunt like he did in his first couple years he might have been in this game

- what's with Plawecki's throws? ... it's like he's not putting a whole lot of oomph behind them. It's almost looks like he's unwilling to let it fly more than just unable to.

- Nieuwenhuis & Mayberry!! Man I thought those guys as OFs 4A & 4B (in whatever order you want to put them) were going to be a useful weapon this year. They're now 5/48 so far with the only positive note being that three of those hits are a double (Kirk), plus a triple and HR (JMJ).
