And I think that's Tim 'Crazy Horse' Foli on the far right.

Yes to Crazy Horse and Kooz. But if 1979 was depicted in that photo, there'd be a last name on the back of the Mets jersey.

No disrespect but that ain't 5/19/79 #50 in the dugout is not Andy Hassler.

8/13/78

4th inning. Randle is on 2nd following a leadoff walk + SB tries to come home on a Bobby Valentine single but is thrown out by RF Jerry Mumphrey. And, yes, that's Ted Simmons.
Coincidentally, the top of that very same inning ended when StL 1B Keith Hernandez was thrown out at home on a single to RF by Joel Youngblood.

I was just about to reveal the answer, figuring that this one was really tough.

Re: Date this.

I looked for Randle scoring against the Cardinals in a day game at home. Couldn't find any such occurrences, so I lied to myself and convinced myself that it was Taveras, even thought he was lighter skinned than Randle and usually wore a beard.

It didn't occur to me to look for Randle getting thrown out, as Simmons doesn't seem to have received the ball yet.

The Mets weren't yet wearing home racing stripes in 1982.

Yeah, y'see this is where I'm at a disadvantage here as I pay less attention to uniform minutia than just about anyone here.

So I'll try 8/31/84

I'll go with 5/19/83

PADRES 1ST: Wiggins walked; Wiggins stole second; Bonilla lined
into a double play (second to shortstop) [Wiggins out at
second]; Richards walked; Garvey singled to right [Richards to
third]; Garvey was picked off first but was safe on an error by
Hodges [Richards scored (unearned), Garvey to second]; Kennedy
struck out; 1 R (0 ER), 1 H, 1 E, 1 LOB. Padres 1, Mets 0.

Gene Richards, I forgot existed, if I ever knew.

Hint: The Mets wore that style road uniform from '74 to '77. It's a road uniform because there are no pinstripes and the tone on Keith's uni inidicates white -- not powder blue. The only Mets infielders to wear #11 during that period were Wayne Garrett and Lenny Randle, and it ain't Wayne because the tone on the infielder's skin ain't no powder blue if you know what I mean. If it's Lenny, it's got to be 1977. Lenny was a two year Met, and in 1978, Lenny's second and last Met season, the Mets introduced their two button jerseys with sleeve piping, which that jersey ain't got.

So it's a 1977 road game at St. Louis. You could tell it's a road game by the outfield wall in the background, also.

I like this thread too but it's not really a guessing game, it's a looking-it-up game and so whenever I see a guess submitted I figure it's game over and don't play.

Re: Date this.

I gave away my black jersey tonight. My sister in law said she always wanted one so I gave it to her. She'll wear it more than I ever would. Cap wore out long ago. So I have expunged myself of that gear once and for all.
