Matt Harvey defends against Tim Hudson.

Edgy MD Jun 09 2015 10:13 PM Re: IGT, 6/10, Mets Avenge Themselves upon the Giants |
Would-be Giant-slayers Travis d'Arnaud and Dilson Herrera are expected to be activated for the game. I'm no soothsayer, but I foresee Daniel leaving tonight on a plane. Kevin, too.

Good! That's a few days earlier than they had been saying.
It took me a moment to realize that you meant Muno and not Murphy.

San Francisco at NY Mets

I think Dilson won't be here, but Travis will. They are accelerating the latter return because Plawecki in addition to sucking at baseball is having continued issues with vertigo.
|
d'Kong76 Jun 10 2015 06:05 AM Re: IGT, 6/10, Mets Avenge Themselves upon the Giants |
Yes, the SNY blogger thing says Dilson won't be activated today.
|
Edgy MD Jun 10 2015 06:10 AM Re: IGT, 6/10, Mets Avenge Themselves upon the Giants |
I sure hope d'Arnaud is something like ready. Because Plawecki/Recker (along with Campbell) has been the real black hole in the lineup.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 10 2015 06:18 AM Re: IGT, 6/10, Mets Avenge Themselves upon the Giants |
I think they mentioned last night that Dilson is traveling to NYC but that his activation won't necessarily be immediate, as opposed to Travis who's going to be put into the lineup ready or not.

I thought it was the opposite, but admittedly I wasn't in front of a computer following closely last night. I liked Wayne Randazzo fine when he was filling in, but his post game felt plodding and forced last night. I just wanted to hear the calls on the recap but took forever to get there.

You know what would be cool? If Matt Hovvey throws a no-hitter tonight, just to get back at them.

3 hits tonight would bring Duda's total for the past week to right up around 4 ... hate to bust on the guy as he's been terrific all year, but he's picking a bad time to go all a-slumping on us.

Yeah, I'm just making them up as a creative writing assignment from Centerfield yesterday. Duda is a luddite. You can make up your own and take a screenshot (never download) from here.

Didn't think things could become more embarrassing after yesterday. That's just unbelievable. That was a lead off triple run into a single.

I agree w/the booth. Bad send by Tueff. Grandy out at home on Cuddy's single.

What's that now, 14 infield hits or 15 for the Giants over the last two games?

It may be happening anyway. There was not a big crowd in the so-called "Matt Kave" last night.
|
Ceetar Jun 11 2015 08:35 AM Re: IGT, 6/10, Mets Avenge Themselves upon the Giants |
we'll get a few days or weeks of anti Dark Knight/Harvey Day talk, which is really the exact same thing, and then he'll be dominate again and we'll be back to it.

what gives you CAHNfidence Harvey is any good anymore? He's basically the Cuddyer of pitching lately.
|
Ceetar Jun 11 2015 08:58 AM Re: IGT, 6/10, Mets Avenge Themselves upon the Giants |

Because 3 of 4 bad starts is a small sample? Because he's pretty much always been good and that he's just a bit off right now is what makes the most sense given what we know about him, his stats, his injury history, etc? Also Cuddyer is hitting .314/.359/.465 over the last 28 days, and is slightly above average on the season offensively.

Maybe someone's out there writing about this (maybe i should?) but there's plenty of questions in my mind about the pitch selection and game play last night. Ron Darling was going on and on about it and I barely watched the broadcast. Harvey allowed his first HR on an 0-2 pitch, ever. It's Travis d'Arnaud's first game back. Were they on the same page? Was the game plan different last night? HAS there been a concerted effort to occasionally pitch to more contact? (Which is really stupid) The Mets are throwing more balls in the zone, striking out more guys but walking fewer. (This was one of Ron's points) The scouting reports may have adjusted, it's time to adjust back. Slow adjustments to hitter adjustments has been one of my long standing points of contention with Mets pitchers. Ron suggested throwing a few more way inside. Make them uncomfortable. You can probably miss on any side of the zone you want though, if guys are more apt to swing because they know it's a high-probably "in the zone" pitch, they're going to swing at more balls too. So make them do that. (This is where it's okay, if you hit your spot, to be okay with contact.) I wish I had the time to really dig into these numbers. Like, what's the opponents swing% in June versus April-May? edit: 46.7% opponent swing percentage in April, 48.4% in June if I'm reading that right.

Frayed Knot Jun 11 2015 10:02 AM Re: IGT, 6/10, Mets Avenge Themselves upon the Giants |
Saw yesterday where ABs against Harvey feature the highest pct of 1st-pitch swings - some 41% IIRC.
