NY Mets at Atlanta
When: 5:05 PM ET, Sunday, June 21, 2015
Where: Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia
By SportsDirect Inc.

Matt Harvey and Julio Teheran are two of the best young arms in the pitching-rich National League East, but as the Atlanta Braves host the New York Mets in Sunday’s finale of a three-game series, each hurler takes the mound looking for consistency. New York’s Harvey has allowed seven runs twice in his past five starts, while Teheran is winless in his past five outings.

The Mets have battled injuries all season and saw catcher Travis d’Arnaud leave Saturday’s 6-4 loss with a hyperextended left elbow. The defeat knocked the Mets out of first place in the NL East – Washington leads New York by a half-game while the Braves have pulled within two games of the top spot. Andrelton Simmons collected four hits for Atlanta on Saturday – the second time in a week the Braves’ shortstop has posted a four-hit game against the Mets. Jason Grilli recorded the save for the second consecutive night and is tied for third in the NL with 20 saves.

TV: 5:05 p.m. ET, WPIX (New York), FSN South (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Matt Harvey (7-4, 3.32 ERA) vs. Braves RH Julio Teheran (4-3, 5.07)

Harvey won his first five starts and sported a 1.98 ERA in mid-May, but has posted a 5.32 ERA in his five starts since. The Mets hope the 26-year-old can build off Tuesday’s start at Toronto, during which Harvey did not issue a walk and allowed just four hits in seven shutout innings. Harvey, who has not faced the Braves this season, is 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA in two lifetime starts against Atlanta.

Teheran was rocked for six runs on 13 hits in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday at Boston, the third time he has allowed six or more runs in his past eight outings. Since his last victory May 21 against Milwaukee, Teheran is 0-2 with a 6.97 ERA and five homers surrendered in 31 innings. The 24-year-old Teheran beat the Mets on April 11 in Atlanta, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits in six innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. d’Arnaud homered and drove in three runs before his injury; he returned from the disabled list June 10 after missing nearly two months with a fractured right pinkie finger.

2. Atlanta 1B Freddie Freeman missed his third consecutive game Saturday with a sprained right wrist; Kelly Johnson has started all three games in Freeman’s place.

3. New York closer Jeurys Familia may not be available Sunday; Familia experienced left groin tightness Friday and felt discomfort before Saturday’s game.

Let's hope, today being the solstice and all, that this game and its (inexplicably) late starting time doesn't make the afternoon even longer than it already is.
Last night's contest was frustrating and drawn out enough.

Homophobic, too. Seem to have a soft spot for cows, though. Perhaps they're Hindu.

Have we retired Simmons yet this year?
Even when he doesn't get the ball out of infield he gets on base.

And now it's Harvey's turn to surpass 100 pitches by the 4th inning.

47 pitches to get through 2 innings and only once did the Braves get the ball out of the infield!

And yet another game where they head into the 4th inning searching for their 1st hit against a pitcher with a 5+ ERA.

DP ends our 5th. That was our first hit! Holy crapoli. We need runs and Harvey needs some real quick innings.

Re: IGT 6/21 NYM@ATL - At least bring back some Chick-Fil-A.

The only type of hit the Braves haven't gotten this weekend is the one where an easy fly ball hits a bird in flight and falls for a triple.
They've had everything else: bloops, bunts, swinging bunts, high choppers that took a half-hour to come down, etc. And now this game adds a deflect off the base double.

Seems like Harvey always catches the day they go for that chrome insignia thingie.

As well as the hit-like-shit thingie.

I'm getting pretty tired of each pitcher we face having their best night of the season on that day.
Teheran has given up 25 runs over his last 5 starts (31 IP). And that doesn't even speak to rookie's getting no-hitters and those making their ML debuts shutting us down for 7 innings.
And all that merely describes this past week.

Re: IGT 6/21 NYM@ATL - At least bring back some Chick-Fil-A.

And the Braves 19th broken bat hit of the weekend effectively ends this game.

How about a new rule which will fit in well with the time saving thing they're trying to do: When the other team gets a lead against the Mets the game ends since, let's face it, the game is over at that point.

Re: IGT 6/21 NYM@ATL - At least bring back some Chick-Fil-A.

So are we thinking bases-loaded walk here, or a broken bat bloop that scores three?

This is sad. Yea, I feel like it's over too. 1 hit. Can't blame Long, right?
He's such a great hitting coach. [ /]

1.16 [u:2rmaccot]hits per inning[/u:2rmaccot] for Teheran over his last five starts
1.00 [u:2rmaccot]hits per game[/u:2rmaccot] for Teheran in this start.

It's gotten to the point where I watch the first two guys get on with hits and think: 'Why are you doing this to me?'
My CAHNfidence in them scoring went from 0.1% as the inning began to like 2.1% with 2-on and none-out.
