Two innings / two baserunners erased.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 25 2015 12:44 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
Can't score if you don't hit; Mets can't score even when they do hit.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 25 2015 01:04 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
New adventures in not scoring come up as [Inset Pitcher Here] retires just 5 of the first 11 hitters he faces yet allows no runs.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 25 2015 01:15 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
We've yet to have a baserunner thrown out at 3rd today, I think that should be our goal this inning.
|
Zvon Jun 25 2015 01:21 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
How/when did TC use his challenge?

"Well! Terry got angry! Maybe we should start not being terrible at baseball, then!"
|
Frayed Knot Jun 25 2015 01:29 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
This inning we're going to see a runner hit by a batted ball.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 25 2015 01:30 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
|
During the second of three runners we've had erased in this game -- Cuddyer thrown out at home on a single.

I'm looking at the replays. He looked safe to me but I'll have to view them full screen later. Jeeze, whats the point of the challenge if the umps fuck that up too?

Edgy MD Jun 25 2015 02:08 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
Ah, deGrom runs the bases like a Met.

Well, on a slow roller, with Lucas Duda running, you've got to hustle or you're not getting him.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 25 2015 02:18 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
Now the only problem is that deGrom just spent the last half-hour on the base paths.

Just your customary late-game stellar Met infield defense. No big whoop.
|
Frayed Knot Jun 25 2015 02:45 PM Re: IGT 6/25/15 NYM @ MIL: Beat, The Mets |
HUGE DP for a number of reasons - not the least of which was that the pitcher's spot leads off meaning that they'd have had to double switch if Familia was needed in the 8th meaning probably Ceciliani being pulled for Lagares and then you couldn't simply bring Lagares in in the 9th for either Cuddyer or Granderson instead.

They should stick to sports they know. Baseball isn't one of them. Betcha' they're going absolutely orgasmic about the NBA draft. Later

I'm hoping the crucible of pitching with little-to-no margin for error is making men out of these young pitchers.
|

My fear is that he's all done and his next few starts make him worthless.

nah, he had some clunkers last year too and then rounded out again. I suspect there's some combination of tight umpire strike zones and being just a bit off that he can't deal with. (much the same with Gee actually)

I'm not sure if we're talking about Niese or Colon here.
