Wow - just terrible.

Edgy MD Jun 22 2015 11:18 AM Re: Daryl Hamilton |
I had to read two or three times to absorb that it was a murder-suicide apparently perpetrated by the mother. How very awful.

Terribly disturbing... bless that child.

Couldn't help but think of how Phil Hartman was killed by his wife, who then killed herself.

Awful man.

Frayed Knot Jun 22 2015 11:45 AM Re: Daryl Hamilton |
Hartman was the one I immediately thought of as men are the perpetrators of most murder/suicides.

I always liked Hamilton. He was never a great player, but he was dependable. I'll never understand why things like this have to happen.

You need a comma here, very badly.

While we are fixing errors, I edited the thread title. The least I could have done was spelled the guy's name right.

Always seemed like a good guy, and seemed to be doing well on the MLB Network, too. Sad, sad news.

My favorite Hamilton memory: his 2-out double in the top of the 10th inning in NLDS game 2, 2000 (and then scoring shortly thereafter on Jay Payton's single).

Very sad news, the poor child left behind.....

Mine too. Busted his ass out of the box to get to second (think it was with 2 outs and nobody on).

Horrid, 238 hits in a Mets season.

The man was quietly huge for the 1999 and 2000 teams. Hit .339 in platoon duty in '99 (while Shawon Dunston hit .344). In a year when every last iota was needed to build a winner, I'm not convinced Mets make it past October 3 without him. And, as noted, the double off Felix Rodriguez in Game Two of the 2000 NLDS was one of the clutchest hits in franchise postseason history.

Tragic, truly tragic. I feel so bad for the 14 month old son that is now orphaned.

I was looking for anything from Bobby Vee, knowing that he and Hamilton ended badly. Found a lot of memories, mostly culled from The Daily News.
Daily News writers reported that Leiter hadn't yet heard a thing when they called I'm for comments.
A list of teammates' tweets are here, mostly saying the same. The Brews were already down a broadcaster after Bob Ueker took liner to the noggin during batting practice. I'm kind of trying really hard not to speculate what the rest of the investigation will reveal.

The girlfriend apparently has at least one similar situation in her rearview.
