i took saturday march 4th just now and all the saturdays and sundays after that are already gone! (they probably go to yahoo employees before registration even starts)
|
Elster88 Feb 03 2006 12:18 PM |
They're probably reserved for the paying leagues.
|
Nymr83 Feb 03 2006 12:19 PM |
ah, true.

20 teams is going to be f-ing hard. I'm up for the challenge, but I hope I don't finish 20th.
|
Nymr83 Feb 03 2006 01:32 PM |
whoever finishes 20th will be "relegated" and replaced in next year's league :)

Done...

Matt Murdock, Esq. Feb 04 2006 09:29 AM |
there are going to be 20 teams, drafting 28 players each? jeez. that's almost every player in MLB.
|
Nymr83 Feb 04 2006 09:39 AM |
were you reading? i put the default roto settings in until we decide on things, you cant start a league without settings.

Draft times closer to the regular season usually open up as the season approaches.
|
Nymr83 Feb 04 2006 11:31 AM |
that has not been my experience in past years, but we'll see. theres no way in heck that we are getting a time that works for 20 people even if yahoo would give us whatever time we wanted. the best we can do is take the closest weeend to the season that we can get.

Zvon Feb 06 2006 05:29 PM |
I registered.

Guys I have never done a live draft, anything I should know, any hints, give me a clue as to how it works , much appreciated.

don't get snippy with me, mister. i get enough of that from my 8-year old. I've played in some Yahoo public leagues, and their settings (which i assumed were default settings, since Yahoo sets them, and they were all identical) were much different, so i didn't read CAREFULLY enough to see that you said you'd set them to "default". I'm confused by that, but happy that the parameters are still up for discussion. just so you know, in the 6 Yahoo public leagues i've participated in over the past 2 years, they've all had the following parameters: 5x5 standard roto live snake draft 23-man roster = - 11 hitters: C, 1b, 2b, ss, 3b, MI, CI, Of/Of/Of, Ut - 7 pitchers: SP/SP, RP/RP, P/P/P - 5 bench, with 1 DL slot 1250 IP / 162 game caps 15 game position eligibility with daily transactions and lineup changes; 1 day FA pickups; 3 day waiver/trade periods;

I'm in.
|
Nymr83 Feb 07 2006 10:32 AM |
i meant standard rotisserie settings not standard yahoo settings.
|

We may want to think about an auto-draft (i.e., each owner ranks the players and the computer selects their top available choice each round). I don't know if we could find a time that works for everybody, and 20 owners drafting 20+ players apiece will take quite a long time.

metsmarathon Feb 07 2006 08:16 PM |
while i very much like h2h better than roto, at which i suck, i would like our league to have similar settings to those vickie just posted.
|
Nymr83 Feb 07 2006 08:23 PM |
we're doing a live draft at a time that as many people as possible can agree on... those who don't want to draft can still do pre-rankings, but for me and i'm sure several others the draft itself is a LARGE part of the fun in any league.
|
Diamond Dad Feb 08 2006 07:13 AM I'm In |
I'm in. Live draft is the only way to go. H2H would be fun, but whatever the commish wants is fine with me.
|
seawolf17 Feb 08 2006 07:19 AM |
Isn't this one of those deals where it's a live draft, but anyone who's not logged in just goes off their draft lists? That seems reasonably fair.
|
abogdan Feb 08 2006 08:16 AM |
The Yahoo draft software is ideal for this sort of league. Live draft for those who want to sit through 28 rounds and can make it, and autodraft for those who can't/don't want to sit through the draft, or can only make it for part of it.
|
Nymr83 Feb 08 2006 09:20 AM |
yeah, i'll admit i've bailed on the bench portion of a few drafts when i was running late, the queue works well there, you can set it in the draft room incase you lose your connection.
|
seawolf17 Feb 08 2006 09:30 AM |
Um, would you please stop helping people? Brian Roberts is going to hit .380 with 180 RBI this season.
|
Nymr83 Feb 08 2006 09:39 AM |
i'm just making sure people know what to expect if they try to slide by on yahoo's rankings.
|
TheOldMole Feb 09 2006 05:21 PM |
OK, I think I'm registered.
|
PatchyFogg Feb 18 2006 11:55 PM |
Baby Fogg #2 is due around that date, so I think I'll be a pre-ranker.
|
Diamond Dad Feb 19 2006 08:14 AM Where do we stand? |
Where are we on the rules for this league? Have we fixed the # of active players? Stat categories?
