we'll worry about the bench and DL later, for now lets just vote on the number of starting players... we can also worry about the seperation of starters/relievers later, for now we'll just vote on the number of pitchers.

Option 1 (16 starters): C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, UT, 7xP
this is the bare-minimum i'd have to think, i havent heard anyone advocate for less than this.

Option 2 (23 starters): C, 1B, 3B, CI, 2B, SS, MI, 5xOF, 2xUT, 9xP
this is the standard rottisserie layout, though i think with 20 teams we might want to change the 2nd catcher to a 2nd utility player.

Option 3 (19 starters) : C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 4xOF, 2xUT, 8xP
i've never actually seen a league configured like this before, but if we wanted to avoid concerns about the rosters being too big for casual players and including marginal guys (option 2) and still avoid the shallowness of the talent used (option 1) this might be the way to go.

VOTE FOR NOW ON THE ONE OF THESE THAT IS CLOSEST to what you want, we can switch a position or two later if need be but we cant have a dozen options up there at once if we hope to resolve this. once we know how many pitchers we are using we can vote on whether or not to have a SP/RP breakdown or not.

I like Option 3. A nice medium that will still allow for player movement without making rosters too thin.

Gotta go option 1, IMHO. We're going to be down to the bare bones as it is with 20 teams.

I'm with Elster on this. I'd be fine with the bigger line-up if we had ten teams, but there just aren't enough players to go around for twenty.

judging by how this poll looks so far we will do a run off if nothing gets a majority

We can't wait forever on this... Option 3 is clearly winning when you consider that anyone who voted for more would vote for it in a runoff against less and the other way around. I'll leave this poll open until FRIDAY to see if anyone else wants to vote, otherwise we move on.

I have been in a league with 19 active players for a long time. It works fine. We have 16 owners in a mixed league and 40-man rosters with no free agent acquisitions allowed.

19 active players is fine. We use C,1b,2b,ss,3b, 4OF and 2 DH and 8 pitchers (5/2/1)
