I'm pumped. What a great weekend! Mets/Skanks and a new WHO!

I've heard something about the Christmas show that I won't reveal unless you all are aware of it. I thought it was common knowledge because it's been announced all over, but my brother got all pissed off when I told him because he didn't know. It concerns the reappearance of an old character.

These are great. Thank you for sharing them.

I assume the enemy referred to in the 1st is Master Missy. But I really have no idea. I've been trying to wear blinders but I made the mistake of liking Doctor Who on fb. The thing is, if Moffat tells you something "secretive" about the Christmas episode you can be assured he's doing that to distract us from what the real surprise will be.

Now do I send these to my brother? He was a real dick when I told him about the Christmas episode...

Re: The Doctor = Negligent Grandfather

Had to catch the second show. Very interesting start. Enjoyed it very much. Jeeze, just having new shows I think they could have shown him running on a treadmill for an hour and I would have been like :oh,kool!

I remembered who Davros was so I figured that must have been him as a child. I expected the Doctor to save him, because, well, all summer he's been yelling "I SAVE PEOPLE"! But apparently he didn't save chilDavros, just left him there (hand mines-creepy kool). IIRC Davros hasn't been around since the tenth Doctor, when he met a nasty end. I don't recall the eleventh dealing with him.

And then Missy is all nicey except when she's killing people in her general vicinity. I liked how Clara was totally in the loop for such an emergency (plucked right out of school) and I thought she seemed a lot cooler and wiser in her dealings with Missy. It's funny but the running joke about her being a control freak..., I never saw her as that, but this seasons Clara seemed calmly in control at the episodes start. I like how she was the one to figure out how to find the doctor.

I read in the episode description beforehand about the sky being frozen but that isn't really what happened. All the planes themselves were frozen in time. That was such a neat and novel concept. I kinda wished they did more with that than they did. It ended up as a very short sideshow, or prelude to Missy.

Someone's going to have to remind me of who those nunlike ladies that the Doctor was hiding out with are.

Dudes, I Loved the tank/guitar bit. And everything that followed leading up to the cliff hanging moment.
Will he? Won't he? Tune in next week, same Doc tome, same Doc channel.

The cliffhanger of the show is a total fakeout. My suspicion is that we're going to learn that The Doctor really DID save young Davros all along. The hint is in the conversation where Davros tells the Doctor that his weakness is compassion.

That might make who-sense. Because it looked like he left him in that position...so how did he survive?

If he even did--what's Davros's origin story? Does he look like an ancient dried up prune from being older than shit or did something else cause his deformity?
So as far as I know he was somehow saved from the hand mines. If you're right maybe we'll see The Doctor arguing with The Doctor about what he intends to do. That would be pretty cool.

In the last scene it seems pretty clear he's got murder in his eyes, but killing him would certainly make a mess of the timelines.

You never know with Moffat. You using the word real reminds me of when I last saw Davros, with the reality bomb, which was a classic turn for him IMO.
It's funny that we aren't at all concerned that Clara (& Missy) were killed. Because we know that it won't stay that way.

Re: The Doctor = Negligent Grandfather

Brilliant. Just brilliant.

I know Moffat haters will say how many freakin twists do you need(?), but he really was able to pull them all off. There were like 3 ways this episode could have gone and I would have thought all of them excellent. He did wring this one like a rag, but brilliantly.

Missy--everytime she plays a scene you really want to like her (she's so funny) and everytime she makes sure you don't. And even thru all that, she worked with Clara (in her own way) and she worked with the Doctor. I am really liking this version of the Master.

No more about it til u guyz check in.

Clara's debut story did occur to me too. After all that Clara's been thru it can get a bit confusing. There's no chance that could be in this Clara's future,...right?

Lets nail down Clara's story

1. She debuts as a Dalek.
2. She jumps into the Doctor's timeline and saves him throughout time.
3. The Doctor (Smith) saves her and runs into the War Doctor (Hurt).
4. Clara continues on with The Doctor after his most recent regeneration.
5. Meets the Phys Ed teacher, falls in love.
6. Loses Danny Pink, meets the New Master.
7. Becomes part of Britain's Doctor Alert System

Fatten that out.

When I read this I thought: there were a lot of hands there. But he did shoot em all. Good call.

"Now come on, I'll take you home."

The kid playing young Davros was excellent in his role.

Also, this should be on the Clara list:
>Missy gives Clara (off screen) a phone number to the TARDIS.
Ever since, there have been clues that this same “mystery woman,” later revealed as Missy, has been working very hard to keep the Doctor and Clara together.

Maisie Williams is so talented. The costuming and the faux medieval setting of the first part were similar to Game of Thrones, yet she played Ashildr so convincingly different from Arya. I hope she has a long, fruitful acting career.

Also, of note: in the most recent episode an anthropomorphic lion with a crown is defeated, which I hope bodes well for the World Series.

Loved it so far.
Pt. 1 could have been an episode from the 1970's. Agree with action packed. Very glad Osgood (actress) is back. Seeing her disintegrated by The Master sucked. She used the inhaler so no matter what she says she is the human one.

I think. This damn show, lol. Did you notice how the gravestone only said "My Sister"?

And again with the electric guitar. I love it. And I think the wilder Capaldi's hair gets the more I'll like him as The Doctor.

A few episodes ago : what was that stuff he was going on about, something about a great composer not writing his own music, or something like that? I think it was in the first Maisie episode. It was right at the start and then nothing more about it since.

Interesting indeed. On the one hand, I don't like stories that are too continuity-heavy and attempt to fill in too much of the mystery of the Doctor's past and Gallifrey. On the other hand, if they're going to tell that story, this is way to do it with some spectacular writing, acting, and directing.

Re: The Doctor = Negligent Grandfather

I finally got all caught up. Left off on part 2 of the Zygon two parter (lots of two parters this season).
This was good. A good slice of Who. Was the gas that turned them inside out some earlier adventure from some earlier Doctor? As I said, I enjoy seeing the Osgoods- they should give her a spin off.

The space station one was okay. Typical Who.

Clara's send off was kinda anti-climactic. I liked Clara. I'm sad to see her go. They gave her a nice juicy last scene with the Doctor. Not good enough though. I barely teared up. The loss of Clara should have had a much more emotional impact IMO (at least on me). Rigsby (a street artist. Really.) comes out of nowhere. The tattoo bit was kool. Is this really it for Clara? If it is I'm disappointed.

Heaven Sent was really excellent. Loved the TARDIS of the mind and The Doctor explaining how he survived each fix he was in. The long way around business, where he punches his way through the substance 400 times harder than diamond and 20 feet thick to get "home", was kool but also confusing. The Doctor has no superpowers as far as strength goes. I know it took him a billion years but my question is how could punching the stuff even make a dent at all? Cripes, he kept running into shovels. I'd sooner believe he did it with a shovel. That was strange, but symbolically it worked.

Clara got a proper send-off in this one. As we see The Doctor grieve he talks to Clara, and thinks of her not as a companion or subordinate, but as a teacher who he could learn from. An equal. That was an excellent touch.

And the Hybrid standing outside Gallifrey at the end. OOOOO, this next one is gonna be good.

Re: The Doctor = Negligent Grandfather

More than fantastic. Brilliant the way it all tied together. Now this was a proper send-off for Clara. And I'm glad she's taking the long way around. Yea, a spin-off, or at least an adventure or two. From Gallifrey back to the old TARDIS in a superbly crafted episode. So many great things. The extended look at The Doctor's home planet and some more historical background added. "Get off my planet!" Ha! So that makes him President of Gallifrey and Earth.

I loved how intent he was on saving Clara. I wish Clara would just let herself be saved, and it looks like she'll at least postpone going back to bird street. I loved the old style TARDIS. I loved that the roadside diner was the one that we first saw when Amy, Rory, River and The Doctor got the blue invitations. I like how instead of even trying to explain how Clara could make the memory device work the opposite way, Moffat used the old "I reversed the polarity" line. I think I realized that the Doctor in the diner could no longer remember Clara at the exact moment Moffat wanted me to. I found it very poignant that it ended up that way. I loved that he got a new sonic screwdriver and the style in which he got it. A really excellent episode, this Doctors best and most defining.

The most recent performances by Capaldi and Coleman have been really great. Especially Capaldi, the way his face can display emotion. He's The Doctor now, 100%, Matt Smith's old news. And I loved Smith's run. Also this last two parter, specifically the first part, the score by Murray Gold was some of his best work.

And we get River Song for Christmas!! Yay!

I liked that.

This link is to a nice Whovian Christmas story about a sick boy in the hospital. There's also some great little videos (esp series 9 in 81 seconds) but WARNING, there are also SPOILERS about the X-mas/River ep coming up that I wish I didn't see (I didn't read anything but there are some telling images).

But read the first thing on the page about Who cast members visiting this kid and watch those clips. Osgood is awesome. I love her. Capaldi does his own sound effects. Christopher Eccleston comes out of the woodwork (Hi! Nine here!).

Looking forward to the CHristmas special.

Checking in on the Christmas episode.
No spoilers.

If you're a River Song fan it's a holiday treat :). Even if you're not. Incredibly enjoyable.
