This was actually the song that made me start the thread...
it's a catchy (yet crappy) tune...

Based on the title, this should be a short thread.

Could be a revelation thread for hipsters though, well, according to Cracked.com anyway...

Re: Terrible Ramones Songs

The Ramones, for all their Punk sensibility, were really pop song writers (by Joey's own admission they were) and so their songs were a bit like those of the B-52s in that if they had that infectious 'pop-hook' they were really good and, if not, they were just pretty effin' bad (simplistic and mindless).

Re: Terrible Ramones Songs

Yeah, what kind of music to write and play was just another thing
that Joey and Johnny fought about (which was everything)...

Re: Terrible Ramones Songs

When you are writing the title song for a horrible movie, how else is it going to turn out?

Re: Terrible Ramones Songs

I kinda like that song, and kinda liked the movie. The cemetary
footage that is not a set is at the Dutch Reformed Church in Sleepy
Hollow, NY (formerly North Tarrytown). It's yards away from the
bridge that The Headless Horseman crossed with his pumpkin
head in hand.

We need to talk with Darren Meenan about reprinting our CPF Ramones shirts.

I don't know him, but I think there are a number of people here who do.

Sorry...terrible is relative and I certainly don't begrudge anyone liking any songs.

My dad is from Tarrytown...I'll have to ask him if he knows about that cemetary.

Small world, I worked in Tarrytown for almost thirty years.

"The KKK took my Baby Away."

Supposedly a jab at Johnny from Joey over a girl. Oye.

Re: Terrible Ramones Songs

I never worked in Tarrytown, but I did tarry in Tarrytown once.

The Ramones, for all their punk icon status, were really doing fairly simple pop songs in the guise of punk and I know it frustrated Joey at times that his songs didn't generate more airplay and more mainstream status simply because they got labeled as 'punk' that station managers didn't think had an audience. But when you're listening to simple pop ditties they tend to either have that great 'hook' or they don't and so tend to generate more of a simple Up/Down vote as to whether they're considered any good. B-52s stuff is like that too just on the more new-wavy side of things.

Re: Terrible Ramones Songs

Johnny stole Joey's girlfriend and married her. Family!
The whole studio versus live show is a whole other thing. There
was nothing pop about a Ramones concert all the way to the end.
I just started the thread as an all-star goof.
