IGT 07/25 LAD at NYM - If the real thing don't do the trick

... they better think up something quick

LA Dodgers at NY Mets
When: 7:10 PM ET, Saturday, July 25, 2015
Where: Citi Field, New York City, New York
SportsDirect Inc.

Justin Turner looks to continue his torrid stretch at his former team's expense as the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers vie for their sixth win in eight outings on Saturday against the New York Mets. Turner, who played for the Mets from 2010-13, homered and added two doubles in Friday's 7-2 triumph to improve to 16-for-31 with six runs scored over his last eight games.

Yasiel Puig crushed a two-run homer in the victory and is 3-for-5 in his career versus Saturday starter Matt Harvey. Los Angeles, which posted a 3-0 win in the opener of the four-game series, has won 10 of its last 12 visits at Citi Field. New York is singing a different tune after falling to 2-6 in its 10-game stretch against the three division leaders, scoring three runs or fewer on seven occasions. The lack of offense is a constant theme in Queens, but the Mets acquired third baseman Juan Uribe and utility man Kelly Johnson from Atlanta for a pair of pitching prospects after Friday's contest.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, SNLA (Los Angeles), SNY (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers RH Zach Lee (NR) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (8-7, 3.19 ERA)

With Zack Greinke placed on paternity leave and likely to serve as Sunday's starter, Lee is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make his major-league debut. The 28th overall pick of the 2010 draft, Lee has posted a 7-3 mark with a 2.36 ERA for the Triple-A club. The 23-year-old also won his other two starts in the minors this season, combining for two runs on four hits in 10 innings with Rancho Cucamonga and the AZL Dodgers.

Harvey fell to 1-3 in his last five starts on Monday after allowing five runs on as many hits over seven innings in a 7-2 setback at Washington. The 26-year-old helped himself with a two-run single in the outing, but has elevated his pitch count by issuing 13 walks over his last three starts. Harvey, who is 0-2 with a 5.29 ERA in three career starts versus the Dodgers, surrendered five free passes and three runs in five innings of a 4-3 loss to them on July 4.

WALK-OFFS:
1. Los Angeles SS Jimmy Rollins belted his second homer of the series on Friday and 32nd lifetime versus New York.
2. New York 1B Lucas Duda is 6-for-34 with 11 strikeouts in his last nine games.
3. Mets rookie OF Michael Conforto was promoted from Double-A Binghamton prior to Friday's game and went 0-for-3 with an RBI groundout in the fifth inning.

Re: IGT 07/25 LAD at NYM - If the real thing don't do the tr

Hardest-hit hit was the one Tejada served into right center.

The hardest ball was Duda's lineout. And again, if he bunted, the runner could have jogged home.
Gary: I was saying, the old cliche is you're taking a round bat and trying hit the ball square... . And that's the last out and the Mets go to break up 4-0.

Keith: Cylindrical bat.
In two words, there's Hernandez at his best and worst simultaneously right there.

Keith's cryptic reference to the 18 inning game from last week was in response to a Phil Mushnick (NY Post) column from a couple days ago about how Keith makes it apparent on occasion that he'd rather be anywhere other than doing a game.

Re: IGT 07/25 LAD at NYM - If the real thing don't do the tr

My aunt and uncle gave my father and I (we were born on the same day) tickets for tonight's game as a birthday present.  They were very good seats (Sec. 109, field  level) and included Acela Club access. My dad was intrigued by this,  and wanted to get there early so we could have a late lunch.

My dad has articicial hips and can't move around like he used to. He has a handicap parking pass. Because we got there so early, they directed us to park in front of the Rotunda. Which was good, because we got there about 4:30, and the gates hadn't opened yet. People were already lined up. But we were able to stay in the air conditioning and just walked up as they were opening the gates. We had no bags, so no waiting.

We eventually make it to Acela. Little did we know that we could have made a reservation and not have to wait. But no big deal, 20 minutes later we were seated. To our surprise they had a buffet meal with LOTS of delicious items to choose from. All you can eat, too. We ate like kings! By 6:30, we were done and it was off to our seats.

On the way to our seats the PA announcer said they were putting the feed up from Wrigley Field because Cole Hamels was pitching a no hitter. We make it to our seats in time to see the bottom of the ninth in its entirety. When the outfielder made that great catch to secure the no no, the crowd let out a huge roar. Someone in the stands commented "that's probably the most exciting thing we'll see tonight."

Boy, was he wrong.

My dad doesn't have as close a pulse on the Mets as I do, so when he saw a jersey with JOHNSON 55, he said, "Who's that?" I said, "Oh, that's Kelly Johnson, just got him from the Braves." We got to know him pretty good tonight, needless to say.

There was electricity in the air. Maybe it got kicked started from the no hitter. Maybe some of it was from the new guys Johnson and Uribe. Maybe some of it was from the 7 Line Army, which was in full force in their usual roost in right center. Maybe some of it was from Harvey himself, who was getting it done with his arm and his bat. And maybe some of it was from the pending after show Heart concert (that my dad and I declined to stay for.) But there was a palpable feeling of electricity in the air.

It's not often you get to see your team score 15 runs. Especially with the offense we've seen this year so far. But the hits, 20 of them, kept piling up. A home run from the new guy Johnson. Four from Conforto, who was just stinging the ball each time up. Four hits from Kirk. Two hits from Harvey, for crissakes! I think the only starter without a hit was Plawecki, and he was on base twice. And it was nice to see Duda wake up from his summer slumber with two bombs.

The only drama left in the game was to see if Conforto or Kirk would get five hits, alas, they both walked and had to settle for five times on base in the game.

A silly aside...during the 8th inning Piano Man singalong, they were scrolling the lyrics on the video board. When they got to the line "and the manager gives me a smile" an image of a grinning Terry Collins pops out of nowhere. Cute.

The game ended around 10:30, and we left and got back to our car in record time. As predicted, no traffic at all, many stayed for Heart, which made it that much easier to get back to Suffolk County before 11:30. From start to end, a pretty good day at the ballpark.

Great night at the park with some friends who had access to nice seats. Great to see some offense.

Was surprised Harvey was allowed to hit in the 6th and pitch the seventh. Why waste his arm on a meaningless inning?

Re: IGT 07/25 LAD at NYM - If the real thing don't do the tr

That's impressive:
[list:3b45vs5u][*:3b45vs5u]They have exactly three automatic show-stopping killer tracks in their catalog, and they have the courage to spend two of them right out of the gate.[/*:m:3b45vs5u]
[*:3b45vs5u]They use only one of their hugely popular but distressingly uncharacteristic and un-rocking late-eighties power ballads, and they bag the original arrangement in favor of an alternative version of that.[/*:m:3b45vs5u]
[*:3b45vs5u]They dip into the Zeppelin catalog, but they don't do that "Stairway to Heaven" cover that got a zillion FB shares.[/*:m:3b45vs5u][/list:u:3b45vs5u]

Sounds like Heart broke out as much as the Mets did last night. My only question is why do "Immigrant Song," when it underscores where you got that galloping bassline from "Barracuda" from? If you're going to do that, you might as well feature that shared element and merge them into a medley.

Did Nancy do the full Ovation acoustic solo intro for "Crazy on You"?
