Hopefully there is no let-down tonight. I wonder how long the Mets will stick with Colon if he struggles again. They are in a pennant race and he has been their weakest starter for some time. Do you go down and get Gee? He's been pitching a little better of late.

They certainly have some options going forward. Gee is one. A returning Montero is another (four scoreless and walkless innings in the GCL so far), and Verrett is a third. Matz lingers in the periphery as well. But what to do if starters flounder... I'm not trying to live there.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), FSN Florida (Miami) PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Bartolo Colon (9-10, 4.96 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Tom Koehler (8-7, 3.38) Colon extended his winless streak to seven starts last time out when he was pounded for six runs and 10 hits in just 2 1/3 innings against San Diego. The 42-year-old has limited opponents to two or fewer earned runs three times during that stretch, though, and is 2-1 with a 3.48 ERA in three starts versus Miami this season. Ichiro Suzuki is 28-for-96 with three homers against Colon, who has walked just 14 in 119 2/3 frames. Koehler lost for the third time in his last four decisions Wednesday when he allowed five runs over six innings against Washington. The 29-year-old Bronx, N.Y., native has been much better at home (2.32 ERA) than on the road (4.31) and completed at least six frames in nine consecutive starts. Ruben Tejada is 7-for-20 with four doubles and seven RBIs versus Koehler, who is 1-4 with a 3.95 ERA in his career against the Mets. WALK-OFFS: 1. Miami 2B Dee Gordon, who was rested Sunday, is 18-for-41 with four RBIs in 10 games against the Mets in 2015. 2. New York OF Yoenis Cespedes is 1-for-7 with a run scored in his first two games after being acquired from Detroit. 3. The Mets are last in the majors with 373 runs and the Marlins are just ahead of them with 375.

He's being examined today. Collin' last stated notion was an early September return, but he may well be simply trying to manage expectations.

I wonder what our 'bunt percentage' is? No such statistic exists of course, but more than just being able to see how many times we bunted into outs or K'd trying to bunt, I'd like to see a tally of how many individual pitches where a sac bunt was attempted and then how many of those were successful at moving a runner up. For example, in this inning, Bartolo took 3 shots at a Sac Bunt and failed at all of them so that would be an 0-fer-3. Then you'd want to compare it to league averages and such. Now you'd essentially need pitch by pitch analysis to keep track of it all so I don't expect a realistic answer here, but geez, it would have be in the single digits on this club.

I can quite easily get used to games like this. Cespedes looked a little perturbed in the dugout after his 3rd double. He looked like he was wondering what he had to do to hit the ball out there..

And speaking of bullpens, after two nights of saving his best relievers for save/hold spots that never appeared, Matt Williams tonight uses both Storen & Papelbon in late inning mop-up work. Papelbon serves up a HR to make it 6-0 Arizona.

How great is this. I watched in a bar after our crappy work softball team took a 20-1 beating tonight. I was the losing pitcher, made a key error on a stupid idea of a play, but scored the only run. Our team is about all Mets fans, except for one Marlins fan.
