Re: I.G.T. 8/11/15 Harvey Day Colorado @ Mets

Colorado at NY Mets
When: 7:10 PM ET, Tuesday, August 11, 2015
Where: Citi Field, New York City, New York
SportsDirect Inc.

Carlos Gonzalez appears to have every pitcher's number the last two months, but he's yet to solve Matt Harvey in his career. Gonzalez looks to continue his scintillating run and end his team's struggles at Citi Field when the Colorado Rockies play the second contest of their four-game series against the New York Mets on Tuesday.

Gonzalez launched a two-run homer in Monday's 4-2 setback for his fifth blast in as many games and a staggering 22nd since June 6. The 29-year-old Venezuelan is 7-for-21 (.333) with 11 RBIs and five runs scored during the Rockies' 3-2 run but is 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in his brief dealings with Harvey. Daniel Murphy had a go-ahead, two-run single in the eighth inning for National League East-leading New York, which rebounded from a pair of one-run losses to post its eighth win in 10 contests. Murphy is 12-for-29 (.414) with six RBIs and as many runs scored during his seven-game hitting streak.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, ROOT (Colorado), SNY (New York)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Chris Rusin (3-4, 4.66 ERA) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (10-7, 2.76)

Rusin saw his winless streak reach eight games on Wednesday despite allowing three runs and eight hits in five innings of a no-decision versus Seattle. The 28-year-old has gone 0-2 in that span while yielding seven home runs. Rusin has struggled on the road this season, posting a 1-3 record with a 5.40 ERA while allowing the opposition to bat .327 against him.

Harvey scattered two hits over seven scoreless innings on Wednesday, but the Mets' bullpen made it an adventure en route to an 8-6 victory over Miami. The 26-year-old has yielded 11 earned runs in his last nine outings but only has a 4-3 mark to show for it. Harvey didn't let the bullpen have an opportunity in his last meeting with Colorado, going the distance while permitting four hits and striking out six for the win.

WALK-OFFS:
1. New York 1B Lucas Duda is enjoying an 11-game hitting streak versus Colorado.
2. The Rockies have mustered just seven runs during their seven-game skid at Citi Field.
3. Mets 3B David Wright, who underwent spinal stenosis surgery earlier this season, went 1-for-3 with a walk in his first rehab start with Single-A St. Lucie on Monday.

Yeah, they're just making stuff up. Now I wonder if Lucas really has an 11 game hitting streak against Colorado.

How much more right handed can it be? None. None more right-handed.

Hey wait. What's Muffy doing in there.

Guess they could've gone with D'Arnaud at first and Plawecki at catcher instead.

How come Harvey is hitting 9th, when last night Niese hit 8th?

If this is a sign that Terry is giving up the pitcher hitting 8th experiment, then yay. If Terry hits the pitcher 8th whenever the Ouija board tells him to, then it's problematic.

Based on the storm that just blew through Central NJ (yes mm, it actually exists), I would not be surprised if tonight's game starts a few minutes late.

Maybe just that Niese is a better hitter? I don't remember Colon ever hitting 8th this year.

Re: I.G.T. 8/11/15 Harvey Day Colorado @ Mets

It's because Lagares is batting leadoff since Granderson is sitting out. Usually, Lagares bats 9th when the pitcher bats 8th.

Re: I.G.T. 8/11/15 Harvey Day Colorado @ Mets

Lagares sat last night also. He only came in as a late inning defensive substitution.

Meanwhile, how do you say "fundies" in Spanish? Cespedes seems to need a refresher course in them.

I was also very much in favor of allowing Harvey to pitch the 9th.
Once they reached the bottom of the order of course that was all off, but am a bit disturbed by the fact that it certainly looked like Terry was going to pull him regardless of how the bottom of the 8th went.

Greinkedodgers up 5-0 on Washington, looking to fall three behind the Mets.

Washington operating with the services of Bryce Harper, who has been felled by knee soreness. Clearly, whichever voodoo priest pulled the pin out of the Cuddyer oll found a new knee to mess with.

Binghamton, down 6–1, scored 12 unanswered runs over the final four innings to down Altoona, 13–6.

St. Lucie got 4 2/3 shutout innings in relief from Marcos Molina and a 1-3 start at third from David Wright to beat Ft. Myers, 3-1.

The doomed Savannah Sand Gnats got a completely dominant 3-0 shutout from Corey Oswalt (5 IP, 0 BB, 6 SO), Paul Paez, (3 IP, 0 BB, 4 SO), and Cameron Griffin (1 perfect IP, 0 BB, 1 SO).
