Moses

I know we've talked about the 64/65 World Fair and Mr Robert Moses. I can't find it. That search engine really does suck. Or it's no longer part of the record.

Great article in today's NY Post about getting something in NYC named after Moses. I'll get behind this. Maybe you people up in NYC can do so even more effectively.

Re: Moses

Not to change this completely, but speaking of Moses, I just texted my husband and told him we had yet another "Red Sea Storm". The big storm crossing PA and bound to finally give us rain parted right over Woolrich. Hardly a drop.

Carry on Zvon. I loved the NY World's Fair and maybe I can contribute to this :)

I didn't read the article, but there is something in NYC (apart from plenty in the rest of New York State) named for Moses: The Robert Moses Playground on the East Side in the shadow of the UN building. I know nobody but Centerfield hangs out on the swank East Side, but it exists!

Moses is one of those people who is both brilliant and flawed, and Robert Caro's book about him is an amazing read. And, it played a role in getting me into journalism school. So I have a soft spot for him.

Here's an old blog I wrote about Moses and Caro's book.

Re: Moses

I worked both Summers the NY World's Fair was open when going to college.
My aunt worked in Robert Moses' office, and told me which companies were hiring.
She told some stories about him. Later, I worked at Prentice-Hall, which published a book simply called Moses. The book confirmed some of the things she told me.
Never read the book linked here.

Read the article. It's a tiny little park. Lets get him on a bridge!

I wanna read that book.

Wow, great picture on your blog. I think I had only seen maybe 1 B&W pic of him before I saw this article.

Re: Moses

My great-great-great grandfather (1796-1860) and his father (1767-1832) were both named Moses.
