how do I check? Is there an app for that? I've never been a patient in a hospital for anything. Still have that appendix somewhere.

Removed October of 89. Just out of college, no job, and no insurance, yikes. The delay in "who's paying for this?' led to it perforating, and I had to stay in the hospital for a week afterwards (I couldn't break a fever). Well, a week in a shitty hospital with little sleep in the Bronx was enough for me. I checked myself out (it was strongly advised against doing so); but I was excited to get to my own home, my own bed, and yes (!) I could watch the ball game from my own couch. Got home, sat down. 8 o'clock came all excited for postseason baseball...and then the fucking earthquake happened. Took a while to get back to normal (I lost a lot of weight, and I was skinny to begin with), but that's my Appendix story. Oh, and the future Mrs. Solo was quite the spitfire calling the hospital looking for information. She also almost fainted in the waiting room. I wish she had; I might have had some company.

I'm appended too, but I've had modest abdominal pain in the appendal area radiating down to the crotch on and off for about a year. I went and got checked for a hernia and the ultrasound tech found nothing. This prompted him to go out in the hall and flag down every woman in the hospital corridor. "Come look at this guy I've got with his pants down. He's says he's in pain but the screen shows squat." They all looked at the screen, scratched their chins, and occasionally turned to me as if they can't believe such a grown man could be so pathetic as to have a complaint when the screen shows nothing. I swear, some of those women were there to refill the soda machine or vacuum the curtains.
