Let's just crush him in the first inning and be done with it!

dinosaur jesus Sep 04 2015 01:16 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
I don't want to crush him. That's no way to treat someone. We should just let him know that even if he's not very good at baseball, he's still a good person, and there are probably lots of other things he could do really well. Like, I don't know, making appliqué seahorses, or playing tuba in an oom-pah band. We'll find something.
Benjamin Grimm Sep 04 2015 01:36 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
It needs to be something simple, that doesn't require counting higher than ten. Maybe he could lick envelopes or something.
Edgy MD Sep 04 2015 01:41 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
I'm almost positive he's going to be an NRI for the Mets come March.

I could see that. The Mets like to bring in a couple of guys like that that give the media easy "hometown hero!" columns for Spring Training. See: Anthony Seratelli.

Benjamin Grimm Sep 04 2015 03:04 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
No Murphy, Cuddyer, or Flores. Is Wilmer still away from the team?
Ashie62 Sep 04 2015 03:07 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
Don't know about Wilmer but there is plenty of depth even with Duda out.
Edgy MD Sep 04 2015 04:18 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
Murph is hobbled. Cuddyer is mostly starting against lefties these days. Wilmer was expected back with the team this evening, but I expect Terry doesn't want to throw him out there right away. So they're going with Johnson at first, who I'd probably put at number five on the depth chart over there.
Edgy MD Sep 04 2015 04:22 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
Wright second and Cespedes third is a treat. Put Duda between 'em and watch the thunda.

Starters pitch deeper into the game or the offense scores enough runs to make a lead (virtually) bullpen proof.

I questioned that move from Goeddel. Not that he was great, but if there were several LHBs in a row then maybe you go to O'Flaherty but what worked for the first batter didn't work twice.

LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Sep 04 2015 09:15 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
I don't think I'm terribly prone to reactionary behavior as a fan. But I stopped in here on the way home from work to note that it's probably best for us to end this O'Flaherty experiment, by which I mean that we should out for a ride in the country, tell him to think about the rabbits, and chop up the remains until nothing is recognizable as reliever-shaped any longer.
Rockin' Doc Sep 04 2015 09:30 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
As soon as Terry brought "White Flag" O'Flaherty in to pitch, I mentally marked this game up as a loss.
I haven't seen him pitch yet, but simply reading of it on Gamecast pains me.
Zvon Sep 04 2015 10:12 PM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
I just watched the end again and I can't hang this on uh-O'Flaherty. He came in and got a big out and I thought he looked good against Prado, until Prado does what he does, which is hit well. He got him 0-2, then picked away until it was full. The payoff pitch was not a bad one.
Benjamin Grimm Sep 05 2015 05:12 AM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
Me too. What was he thinking? Terry's bullpen decisions will make me crazy if I let them. Extra-inning road games seem to be especially maddening. If the Mets are playing in October I may have to watch with my eyes closed.
Frayed Knot Sep 05 2015 07:52 AM Re: I.G.T. 9/4/15 Mets @ Stonybrook alum |
What he was thinking was that the Marlins had 3 LHBs in the next 4 hitters and the winning run was already on base.
