Mets are down 2-1, Nationals have a comfy lead against the Braves.

Flores homers to put the Mets on top, and I'm feeling a bit more optimistic!

Matz has thrown 77 pitches through five innings. Hopefully he throws a scoreless sixth, but his pitch count may prevent him from pitching the seventh. And that's when things might get scary, as we well know.
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 06 2015 01:05 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
Matz leaves with one out in the sixth for a blister or something.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 06 2015 01:07 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
And I was just about to say: 'ah 80 pitches, no big deal, we can get at least another inning out of him.'

Let Harvey pitch the 7th.

Some additional Mets runs would be very much appreciated.

Bear Claw in for the Marlins

That was a big -- and not good -- strike 3 call on Plawecki.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 06 2015 01:25 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
8-4 in DC ... but the Braves being down 4 instead of 6 in their current condition makes little difference.

Mets have had a lot of baserunners erased in this series: Lots of GiDPs, a couple of caught stealing, Conforto trying to advance to 3rd earlier, Lagares getting thrown out at 2nd by 20 feet trying to stretch last night, etc.

Nice inning for Reed - even with the two rather cheesy hits.
|
Benjamin Grimm Sep 06 2015 01:41 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
Reed gets a big strikeout of Prado to end the seventh. Still 3-2 Mets going into the eighth. Top of the order coming up.

I like Addison Reed. I 've got a good feeling about him and I hope I'm right.

The devil is Prado... I lost four lbs on that AB.

And now we need at least 2 of 3 in Washington.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 06 2015 02:35 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
10 of the last 12 losses have been by either 1 or 2 runs and have included 4 walk-off losses and 4 times in extra-innings.

Not full-blown panic yet, but a fair amount of unease.
|
Ashie62 Sep 06 2015 03:19 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
Mets are choking down the lane.
|
LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Sep 06 2015 03:19 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
Ah, but is it irrational unease?
|
Nymr83 Sep 06 2015 04:26 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
things have been going the Mets way for about the last 2 months, there had to be a bump somewhere, lets hit it now against the Marlinsand not this week against Washington or in the playoffs. no worry yet.
|
Zvon Sep 06 2015 04:34 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |

I agree. A bump in a bumpy weekend (Thanks Boros). If things somehow fall apart this will forever be known as the Recker's Boner game. Anyone who got excited by reading that better rearrange their priorities.
|
Frayed Knot Sep 06 2015 08:09 PM Re: IGT 09/06 - Mets at Fish - Baked or Poached? |
Blame Recker all you want, but this was a game where they pinch-hit a HR and we pinch-hit a GiDP
