"Lisa Likes Rock 'n' Roll" is sorta some Chuck Berry-era action happening in nu wave-era time. Like a lost Bo Diddley track. It's literally a song about a girl, as it was written for Mick Ronson's then-three-year-old daughter Lisa, who was in the studio during the Short Back and Sides sessions. Short Back and Sides, by the way, remains an excellent album title.

N[/bigpurple]anci I belatedly discovered Toad the Wet Sprocket with the release of the Dulcinea album, which followed their breakout album Fear which is when most of the country discovered their music. How could you not like a band composed of 4 high school buddies from Santa Barbara, California that named their garage band after a line from a Monty Python skit. They formed with the idea of playing local bars for free drinks, with hopes of meeting girls. Despite their lowly ambitions, they were able to make a living with their music.
