It is so funny. On the New York channels they discuss calmly how the Pope is coming, there's going to be a U.N. General Assembly, and it's going to be the biggest security challenge NYC has ever faced, and they yawn and move onto the next story. On the Philadelphia channels, OTOH, for two months it has been constant hysteria about how they are going to handle the street closings, etc. OMG THE POPE IS COMING!!!!!

I was very surprised and delighted, in reviewing photos of the trip, to spot my friend Fr. Matthew Palkowski, OFM Cap, hosting the pope as he visited and blessed the inmates at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia. Fr. Matthew — the bearded and robed figure behind the inmate — once got me out of a terrifying predicament.

What’s next: The Mets head to Philly, although their postgame flight briefly will be delayed to allow the Pope to first depart the City of Brotherly Love. The Mets have a day off on Monday before opening a three-game series against the Phillies.
