This is just surreal. Well, ok Cubs. I know things have been tough facing the young Mets' aces. Fortunately things get easier tonight when you face Steven Matz. Yes, the guy who went 4-0 with a 2.27 ERA.

I hope Matz can give the Mets 5-6 strong innings. I expect the Mets offense to abuse Hammels and a parade of relievers. Taking nothing for granted, but I like the Mets currnt position and their chances of winning the pennant. I hope to see the Mets close out the series tonight so they can get a little, well deserved rest going into the World Series. Let's Go Mets!

After being drafted by and reaching the major leagues with the Rays, Hammel made stops in Colorado and Baltimore before signing a one-year deal with the Cubs as a FA in Feb of 2014 But after just 1/2 season they dealt him away (along with Jeff Samardzija) to Oakland in the deal that brought them (the currently injured) Addison Russell. He then quickly re-signed with the Cubs after the season was over in what seems almost like a pre-arranged thing. Pitched against the Mets in May of this year, getting a ND by giving up just 1 run on 5 hits over 8 innings in a game where the NYM pen blew a 7-inning Harvey shutout.

in fact Kirk and Kevin are the only two guys that didn't get into the NLDS (Besides Reynolds) They've only used 18 guys in the NLCS so far.

I've been largely staying away from the media because of time and over-saturation but am I the only one who saw Harvester is still hurting and possibly can't go in a Game 5 if needed?

So that's a weird call (referring back to the rules conversation CF and I had this morning). I know that the HBP is negated by the swing (on Castro) but I guess it's still a dead ball after it hits him which in turn negates the need to throw down to 1st to complete the out. Not sure I had ever seen or even thought about that sequence before.

I had to take a leave from posting here for a while because I was jumping up and down and dancing around the room to "Lazy Mary." That slightly delayed punchout from the home plate umpire added a nice small touch of drama. There was just a brief moment when I thought it was ball four and feared that things might be starting to unravel.
