Voice of the People (Mets-related letters to the Daily News)

Hair's to the World Series Mets
Piscataway, N.J.: Voicer Carol Conran states that she could not watch a Mets game because of the long hair on some of the players, and that they should all look like the clean-cut Yankees. I personally would much rather watch a scruffy-looking player who can hit than the clean-cut Yankees’ limp bats, which have kept them away from a World Series for several years now. Let’s go Mets and good luck.

Like Samson
Brooklyn: Am I sensing some sour grapes in Voicer Carol Conran’s statement about the Mets players with shoulder-length hair and beards a foot long? So her Yankees are clean-cut, and look like professional athletes? How are the Yankees doing in the postseason? Oh, yeah, they got beat in the wild card game against the Houston Astros. The New York Mets, some of them longhaired, beat the Dodgers, crushed the Cubs and are going to the World Series against the Royals. Go Mets!

Split-end zone
Rockaway Beach: I agree with the Voicer who wrote that the Mets should have a hair code like the Yankees, but did she ever look at a football game? I didn’t know we had girls in the National Football League.

Test the bums
Wilmington, Del.: I can’t believe that a bunch of light-hitting, no-pitching, sloppy fielding, last-place bums earlier this year could storm past the two top National League teams. There’s no way in hell that a team of no-names could come so far so fast, and they need to be investigated for foul play. Every Met player should first be tested and cleared for steroids and drugs before the first World Series pitch.

Badge of honor
Bronx: In 1969, the Daily News gave out large buttons that read “GO METS” and had the paper’s logo at the bottom. The Mets won the World Series that year. I’m 85 years old now and wear my button with lots of pride. I know we can win it again.

Murphy’s view
Little Neck: Daniel Murphy is as entitled to “disagree with the (gay) lifestyle 100%,” which is just his opinion, and not hateful or personal, as Daily News writer Joe Dziemianowicz is to express his wish to “get to first base with Matt Harvey,” which is pushy, inappropriate and possibly personally offensive to Harvey (“To me, Murph’s Mr. Mutt,” Oct. 24). But, anyway, why is this nonsense front-page news?

How lovable is David Saraga?

And this is probably the button that Marvin Warm is referring to:

Re: Voice of the People (Mets-related letters to the Daily N

Steve Allen used to do a bit where he just read aloud letters to the Daily News.

I had that button!

Oh, and ask the Yanqui fan with the long hair aversion how she likes Sabathia's arm-length tattoos. Is he "clean cut" because he doesn't have long hair and is currently in rehab?

That's some mighty-clear thinking there, David.

I have this button, which I wear to 'BIG' games:

I was searching for the image and pulled it from ebay where that particular one is listed for $85.00! I had no idea. Says its from 1968. News to me. I don't know how and where I got it. Just have always had it.

If he's holding that button while he's peeing it could lead to puddling. That's not the thing he's supposed to be holding at that moment!

I don't remember the Mets being in last place this year. This must have happened while I was in Peru.

I just love that the Mets need to be tested for steroids and drugs. Don't take any chances, David!

‘Natural’ pitchers
East Meadow, L.I.: It’s uncanny how much Noah Syndergaard and Jacob DeGrom resemble my spinster sisters. Except for their attire they could be twins.
