And, as expensive as setting up a broadcast crew might be, there's something to be said for using spring training the way teams use them — and throw some opportunities to out-of-work and aspiring broadcasters, apprentice camera operators, college intern sideline reporters, psychotic statisticians, openly gay post-game hosts, and the like. The MLB network games are fun for that very reason. I get an occasional "Hey, look, Tom O'Malley and Brian McRae are sharing the booth!" without having to worry about them stinking up a game that counts in the standings.

The Royals already have advance scouts following the Mets and given how smart the Royals think they are (per Verudcci's article in the current SI and Kurkjian's article at espn.com on that play in Game 5 of the WS), these are the smartest advance scouts in the history of baseball.

I agree, it looks stupid and confusing. But the image is selected by the marketing dept and the billing order is determined by contract, so this happens alot. Still, marketing should use an image that's consistent with the billing requirements.

I don't think it's a standard; I just think that it hasn't mattered. The order of billing is the most important thing. The next important thing is the image. If the billing and the image are not aligned, it's not considered important.

Well maybe not really early but once Act 1 was done with -- where the cute but unemployed girl on the rebound uses the interwebs to find a hook-up for the night and then gets trapped in his place by a massive snowstorm that they both didn't know was coming or even that it had happened until after the inevitable morning-after spat -- so was I. That 'Grease' poster was the first one I thought of, both because it was the first time I remember seeing that kind of 'mix-up' and because the faces and credits look like they're synched up so perfectly that I was sure it had to be a screw-up. Plus it's such an obvious publicity shot you figure it would have occurred to someone to have the actors switch places, but maybe Travolta's contract called for him to only be shot from his left side or that he insisted on getting his way because he was prettier than her.

A vertical flip, admittedly not quite as easy without Photoshop, still achieves that. I mean, I come at this from a UI design standpoint so these are things I just think about, but still. It says a lot about Hollywood to me that the billing order is more important than the aesthetic appeal to the paying customer. Of course, in many cases these stars are literally in the movie as marketing tools themselves over spending more time crafting a story so.. anyway, the Mets. it's like 2 days away and stuff! neaat! And we'll get to relive all the World Series highlights I bet!

with all the talk about KC wanting to "retaliate" against the Mets because of Syndegaard's knock-down pitch in the WS, i wouldn't be surprised, or the least bit unhappy, if Harvey put the first guy he faces on his ass. He's just the kind of a#@hole to do it, god bless him.

God, ESPN sucks so much. One of the downsides of being a better team is the greater chance of your Sunday games being broadcast by this clown show. Somehow the fact that Dallas Braden was wearing sunglasses today was like, hugely important, more important than the fact that the Mets are defending National League champions, apparently.
