Proud to Be a Mets Fan

Going on the record as saying this. Hoo boy, what a ride this year!

I am turgid with excitement for the 2016 season. Engorged, even.

Proud to have been there with these guys from Spring Training until the last out last night (this morning?). It was quite a ride.

Let's Go Mets!

It was a great season. Nothing but positive feelings about the 2015 Mets.

A lot of big decisions pending regarding the 2016 team. I'm looking forward to seeing how they play out.

Good year foruming. Thanks all for contributing. Nice to see boomerang posters: Soupcan, rottblatt, Piggies' Tomatoes, Second Spitter, Batty31, et al. I hope you stick around.

LWFS's post telling halfhearted woundlickers to buck up or get out may have been ultimately futile, but I think it still qualifies as the post of the year. Thanks for believin'.

Thanks for the outlet, folks. I love being here.

2015 was probably the most fun I've had as a Mets fan...what a great ride.

The wound's still a bit fresh, but yeah. First time in a long time that there's no embarrassment attached to being a Mets fan. And that's a good thing.

Thanks for the opportunity to share this with fellow diehards.

That really should rarely, if ever, be the case.

Yeah, man. Embarrassment is for the birds. And not the Birds either.

The only baseball fans that should be embarrassed are ones that use their fandom as an excuse to be the colossal jerks that they are anyhow.

But since part of being a jerk is being un-self-aware and immune to embarrassment, it is also acceptable for those sitting near them to feel a little empathetic embarrassment.

You root for a team. Good for you. Be proud if they're the champs. Be proud if they're getting their ass beat out of the British Fourth Division by Accrington Stanley.

This. Long ago I realized that posting here is the only thing that takes some of the sting away after a tough loss.

Yes, definitely. And in fact, sitting in the ballpark watching the Royals celebrate, it wasn't until I turned on my phone to the CPF that I welled up a bit. Love all you crazy kids.

An Amazing season to be sure!

And now that the arms are all in place, we can get some bats because we're coming back!

Re: Proud to Be a Mets Fan

Yes, also, I didn't know if it merited another thread, but I'm equally proud to be a CPF'er.

Mets fandom in my house is a passing fancy -- Fgirl doesn't care except for which player has the nicest hair. Fwife is good until she dozes off. Fboy is equally happy to read a book as he is to watch a game, even a playoff game.

But you guys (and gals!) are my Mets family, bleeding orange & blue at the same effusive levels as me, riding out all of the ups and downs and in between. It's a shared experience, that is best experienced shared, for better and for worse.

Re: Proud to Be a Mets Fan

Ever since my first kid was born in 2007, I'd been finding myself with less and less time to follow the Mets and sports in general. Then my son became a big Red Sox fan so I'd been following the Red Sox with him & didn't have much time for the Mets.* This spring I made a concerted effort to follow the Mets again on a day-to-day basis through the season and boy, did I chose a good year to do that. I had no expectations going in, but this was a fun team and a great group of players that make me happy that I chose the Mets all those years ago and still be a part of the Mets story from afar.

* My son really got into the Mets this year too. Still primarily a Sox fan but it was fun to share a season following MY team this time.

Re: Proud to Be a Mets Fan

I know, isn't it fun to have a young kid that likes baseball so much that they will make their own choice about a team even? I gotta hand it to my son, now 26 years old....he has continued to watch as much MLB as he can, despite a stressful job and a really crappy local cable company, baseball wise.

Yup..plan on sticking around..or at least poking my head in every now and then. Been away too long.

I've always been proud to be a Mets fan. Win or lose, I've stuck by this team because I like this team! I'm not in it for the "rings", though it is a nice to see them get one every once in awhile. I'm tired of Yuckee fans rubbing the 27 rings garbage in my face. Having said all that, it was odd having support from random Yuckee strangers in the street.

Not sure where the ride will go next year, but I'm there.
