Two-year extension, says Carig.

Geez, if I'm Terry I'm thinking about leaving. I'm old and this job is stressful.

Not surprised.

Terry deserves to ride this wave of pitchers the next few years. Hopefully, he goes out on top.

Cutting back on bonehead pitching changes would be a smart step towards that goal.

I'll hold off on commenting until my anger dissipates a bit. I know that Terry did a great job overall, but the sting of his bonehead moves in the post-season, and most specifically the last 3 games is still too fresh in my mind.

I haven't been the biggest Terry fan over the years, but I'm more than OK with the two year deal.

I've come around a little on Terry. Although I still get mad at him when our guys don't execute, day to day he rarely gets outmaneuvered by the other manager, and he has terrific goodwill with the media - I mean, they absolutely love him, and that helps to establish authority and continuity with our youngish team. I'd like to see the club get better at the little things now, and hope he's held accountable for that going forward.

I'd rather have him than Dusty Baker. :)

Any announcements with regard to the staff? I tend to think Geren is gone.

No surprise , the players play for him and he seems to leave them alone .....

I'm fine with this. He took them to the World Series. Give him another shot with this group of guys. See what his encore is.

Coming up as he was on the final year of his contract (option year actually) the club was pretty much forced into doing something seeing as how allowing a pennant winning manager to enter the next season in full lame-duck status is probably the poorest option out there. That leaves either extending him or, in effect, firing him and the latter certainly isn't a good move pr-wise, particularly absent some outstanding candidate ready to take over.

Watching Terry manage a game is like watching a drunk go through an entire book of matches before he finally lights his cigarette with his last match. He gets the desired results, but sometimes it is painful watching him do it. He sure makes the IGTs interesting.

Me too. He seems to be a good fit with this team.

Likable enough to keep around and root for... but not so much on the strategic end.

Benjamin Grimm Nov 04 2015 09:03 AM Re: New Deal for Terry |
If he makes it to the end of this two-year contract, he will have managed more Mets games than anyone in the club's history. (Never would have guess that when he was hired.) Two full seasons would put him at 1,134.

THEN I GUESS THAT RECORD IS SAFE UNTIL 2017. LET'S FUCKIN' WIN THIS THING, TERRY.
