Ottoneu 2016
metsmarathon Dec 07 2015 09:24 AM |
just thought I'd start up a new thread for the next season, as we're basically all done with the last one, having concluded salary arbitrations.

TransMonk Dec 07 2015 10:54 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
If we need another owner, I say bring him aboard!
|
metsmarathon Dec 07 2015 11:12 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
once you award a dollar, as long as the deadline hasn't passed, you just change the $1 to a $0 on the respective team page, and reassign your dollar as you please.
|
TransMonk Dec 07 2015 11:18 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
Poop. Like I said, I didn't look that hard...I actually may not have noticed until after the deadline had passed.
|
metsmarathon Dec 07 2015 11:27 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
oops. it was jj hardy, not rickie weeks.

oops, yeah, I got the uncle's email address and then promptly forgot to compose and send the invite email.

metsmarathon Dec 21 2015 09:37 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
so... ownership straightened out yet...?

i think so
|
metsmarathon Jan 07 2016 07:49 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
We really need to have this done before the keeper deadline. Do we need to find a different replacement owner?
|
Nymr83 Jan 08 2016 09:08 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
i'll do it if you need the team
|
Ceetar Jan 09 2016 10:25 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |

The Easton assassins owner referred someone, who initially responded to my email but hasn't responded to my last two. If he doesn't get back to me by early next week he can lose his claim to you as long as you can make the Wednesday March 23rd at 8:30 PM draft time? It'll be a couple of hours to draft from there. I think I might set a hard end time for the draft, sometimes a team or two stays up late putting in $1 claims on scrubs/prospects to round out their team when everyone else is asleep. Seems like we should try to limit that a little bit.
|
metsmarathon Jan 10 2016 11:17 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I disapprove of the hard end cap

anyone else?
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jan 10 2016 08:31 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I'd like to hear mm's reasoning because I haven't thought it through. It sounds like an okay idea.
|
metsmarathon Jan 10 2016 08:41 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
For one, it rewards anyone dedicated, we, stoopid, enough to stay up till the end of the draft for the slim pickins that remain. And two, there are a bunch of teams in desperate need of roster overhauls that could benefit from such dreg-rankings. And three, who's to say we'd be all the way down to those players of such inconsequence that most of the league has no interest in trying to obtain them by the time the time limit kicked in? And finally, if the players are of such trivial nature than it shouldn't matter if the harder working owners get them, should it?
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jan 10 2016 08:50 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I guess. My objection I suppose is a matter of taste. I just find bidding guys up with seconds to decide is where the fun is, coming in afterward and leisurely scooping up the dregs unopposed, eh.
|
Ceetar Jan 11 2016 08:04 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |

i admit this somewhat comes from a laziness standpoint, but my thought was that the draft is already 2-3 hours long which is pushing the bounds for 'casual competitiveness' imo. But on the other end of it, I'm not sure there is necessarily a competitive advantage to grabbing a bunch of $1 gambles. You probably end up committing to players who probably suck longer, have less room for spring pickups, and do have to pay to cut these scrubs later. It's a lot like the Rule 5 draft. We've got our 12th owner, I just have to figure out how to add him via the UI which is just oh so user friendly. I either have to wait for a database propagation or he needs to link his fangraphs account and pay but he can't do that until he has a team? it's confusing. i'm looking into it.
|
smg58 Feb 07 2016 09:08 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I was under the impression that the best bargain pickups don't materialize until after the season starts anyway, but I could be wrong about that.
|
Ceetar Feb 08 2016 07:55 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |

Yes I believe this is how we accidentally got two Snukes or something last year during the draft.
|
metsmarathon Feb 25 2016 07:14 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
so... uh... did our commish forget to re-up his team?
|
Ceetar Feb 25 2016 07:19 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |

yes. to be fair, I only got one warning email and have been a little preoccupied irl.

Wednesday night. be prompt.
|
smg58 Mar 21 2016 08:42 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I'll be there. It might not receive my full attention for as long as my daughter chooses to remain awake, but I have nine unfilled spots and not a whole lot of money to spend so I can probably afford to wait on the bidding.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Mar 23 2016 02:19 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
Tryna cram for this thing but can't figure out Fangraphs for the life of me.
|
TransMonk Mar 23 2016 02:40 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I've never seen where Fangraphs gives potential bid amounts. They do give a FPTS score, which I assume is a relative value, but doesn't really translate to how we score or what our budget is.

well, at least he'll be on the 60.

John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 07 2016 12:36 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I'm still not used to baseball season. Stupid cold rainy spring and dumbass schedule. Missing HRs all over the place!
|
metsmarathon Apr 27 2016 08:37 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
o far this early season, my team is struggling a bit. there's just no power, and my pitching has been uncharacteristically spotty as well.
|
TransMonk Apr 27 2016 08:42 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
I am all hit and no pitching this year...in the top two of all hitting categories, but at the bottom in all pitching categories.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 27 2016 09:29 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
|
In similar conditions, only my hitting's not as good. Thanks for keeping me (and RA Dickey) out of the basement in pitching categories. Eovaldi was so awful in his first starts he didn't make my 'ro when he finally had a good one. Gonna be that kind of season for me.
|
Ceetar Apr 27 2016 11:15 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
i hate my team so far. burn 'em all.
|
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 20 2016 04:08 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
Whoa, the Lunchladies woke up in 3rd place today. Gonna be a big fight for that 2nd Wild Card this year
|
TransMonk May 20 2016 08:37 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
My two highest paid pitchers (Harvey and Shelby Miller) are both now riding the pine. These guys represent 14.5% of my total payroll and are pitching like total dog doo.
|
metsmarathon May 24 2016 01:41 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
with 3 starters on the DL, and 2 utterly ineffective, i'm running a 3-man rotation right now... thank god for clayton kershaw!

so... uh... about that kershaw fellow...

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 28 2016 08:08 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
Hey is possible to revamp the league to a division format next season? Too many of us are out of the $$ and there's little incentive to deal
|
Ceetar Jul 28 2016 08:57 AM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
|
Is there division format in Ottoneu? I wouldn't be opposed to that. I've been really bad with focusing on baseball, particularly fantasy, this year in general.

Yeah, 12 teams and 1 winner makes it tough to get excited if your are not near the top of the standings.
|
metsmarathon Jul 29 2016 07:29 PM Re: Ottoneu 2016 |
this season is difficult - it's not even a race! muddy chickens hit big-time on all his draft picks, it seems. at least in the past, there's been two teams battling it out. or at least not so much of a gap. this year, wow...
