Keef

Seems to be some anxiety about it being 12/20 with SNY having not yet tied him down with a new contract.

His leverage is that HE'S Keith Hernandez!

Nymr83 Dec 22 2015 04:52 AM Re: Keef |
i like Keith just fine but none of these guys are Bob Murphy, I wouldn't care much at this point if we lost any of them

Elster88 Dec 22 2015 05:28 AM Re: Keef |
They're the best broadcast team in baseball and losing any would be a tragedy.

Lefty Specialist Dec 22 2015 01:05 PM Re: Keef |
They're not Bob Murphy, true. They're a LOT more entertaining. I couldn't bear the thought of losing any of them.

Is this really a thing, where's the anxiety?
|
Edgy MD Dec 22 2015 01:37 PM Re: Keef |
He's done plenty of hockey and basketball. I think he'd be unemployed for about a minute if he walked away from the Mets.
|
d'Kong76 Dec 22 2015 01:40 PM Re: Keef |
College hockey and basketball are hardly NY MLB face of the Mets.
|
d'Kong76 Dec 22 2015 01:42 PM Re: Keef |
And I asked where's the anxiety. Is it your anxiety or are there drums

Frayed Knot Dec 22 2015 01:48 PM Re: Keef |
But what's Keith's alternative?

Frayed Knot Dec 22 2015 01:49 PM Re: Keef |

The NYDN (Raissman) ran an article the other day talking about how it's not a done deal yet and the contract expires Jan 1. No hints that it wouldn't happen only that it hasn't yet and yaneverknow.

Benjamin Grimm Dec 22 2015 01:49 PM Re: Keef |
Bob Raissman mentioned it in his Daily News column a few days ago:

That's almost certainly true. Hell, he could find another baseball job, most likely. The Met and Giant booths seem near-universally regarded as everybody's second favorite booths in baseball.

Ah, didn't see the Raissman column.

I didn't say Gary would have trouble getting work.

Yeah, I don't think Gary could live without baseball. Hell, it seems that most of the time he's not doing a game he spends watching other games. So I think he views college hoops and the like as mere appetizers to his main course and if he ever had cause to want to leave NYM/SNY it would be for another full-time MLB gig - although you figure it would be anywhere but the Bronx.

Gary Cohen has his dream job. They'll have to pry that microphone out of his cold dead hands.

I agree completely with this. I think Keith will be back too. Both sides have very few options here. And if he walks, GO GET CAL RIPKEN. DO YOU HEAR ME FRED?

Keith is going to be the next Ralph Kiner i suspect. 30 years from now he'll be showing up for the odd Sunday afternoon game and telling tales about playing with long dead guys like Gary Carter, how he met Musial that time and that very dated 90s comedy show with Jerry Seinfeld.

Gary does love his dream job.

Clearly your asshole is dried out and lonely and you just miss his companionship.
