No Cespedes. No 'major' signing between now and the start of the season. Let's maximize it and say the Nats get Cespedes.

Do the Mets make it?

I abstain. Courteously.
I'm not really interested in polls of public perception and such.

I believe our pitching can do anything. But it's a lot to expect the young arms to do it without surrounding them with all the offensive push possible. So yea, we could. Pen looks good right now. I think if the Mets get that extra O somehow (I'm not adverse to a breakout year from Lags) our pitching can somewhat cruise, and I'd prefer that.

No. This team is still where they were last year prior to the deadline. Good pitching, weak hitting.

Prior to July 31 they were a slightly over .500 team. I can see that happening again, only this time there won't be someone to hit 17 home runs in 41 games.

"No, We're screwed" is a poor choice for one of the answers.

Isn't it a little early to make this assessment?

Can't really answer the question as written. If the question was: "do the Mets make the playoffs without further offensive upgrades" I would vote "no."

Also, for what it's worth, I personally don't believe that losing the wild card game is truly "making the playoffs" when using my normal standard that "making the playoffs is a successful season."

I agree with that.

Hard to say. Too many other variables. Who do the Mets pick up (or not) during the remaining offseason? Who do the Mets pick up (or not) at trade deadline? Do players currently on the roster perform above or below expectations? Do any key players get injured? Does anyone come up from the minors and make a big splash? How are the Nationals and Braves performing?

Yeah, the only answer I can give is "Maybe. Maybe not." They definitely have a chance, but they're not a sure thing by any means.
