Going to the Game 2016

Going to be in south FL March 18-25 and likely soaking up a Mets game in Port St Lucie on one of the three home dates during that stretch, either Sunday/Monday March 20/21 or Thursday March 24. My first ever Mets Grapefruit League home game (I saw them play the Nats in Melbourne a few years ago).

Any CPF mini-reunions are welcome! Also any advice on seating as my wife and son need shade in order to not combust in the heat and sunshine.

Dammit - we'll just miss you. We're going to be down March 16-19 (Games on the 17th in Jupiter and the 18th in PSL).

Re: Going to the Game 2016

Worked a business trip in early March in such a way that I'll see a Cactus League game. Gonna scout the Cubbies in preparation for the NLCS.

You're welcome.

Re: Going to the Game 2016

We might - might -- hit Florida in the Spring too.

I hadnt realized the season ticket plan is so limited: 20 games or dick; and still no word yet on the Kids Club, as though they're trying to funnel folks like me (we did 4 or 5 Sunday games last year) into buying a fullblown Sunday plan. Efff u, Jeff.

Anyway, looks like my brother and I are going in for our own plan: It's Called the Every-Tuesday-Night-Without-Repeat-Opponents-10-Gamer.

Re: Going to the Game 2016

the Kids club stuff is out, unless you mean the vouchers for the actual tickets that you basically can only use for games that aren't kid-friendly.

Damn, that's a bitchin' sounding plan right there. I wish I could easily get to the Citi on a Tuesday without a two day life disruption.

Thanks Ceets. There's another part of the website that tells you "check back for details - coming soon" They also haven't emailed me with that info as far as I know, they usually do.

The brilliant Four (4) Complimentary tickets that can be used at select games. (I feel like we ranted about this already at some point? About how they Kids Club is now sponsored and somehow provides less?)

Basically you can only use them weekdays, and not even Fridays during the summer. The only three weekend/Sunday games available are: 4/10 Phillies, 5/1 Giants, 5/22 Brewers plus the 5/29 ESPN 8pm start Sunday game. April 29th and 5/20 and 5/27 are the three available Fridays in the sense that at least no one has to get up for work/school/daycare the next day.

Pretty pathetic imo. No redemption yet but I feel like you're better off trying to pick key games and just selling the tickets and buying what you actually want to take a kid to.

* Complimentary Tickets: TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR ALL GAMES IN APRIL AND MAY EXCLUDING OPENING DAY (4/8) AND SATURDAY GAMES (4/9, 4/30, 5/21, 5/28). AVAILABLE ONLY FOR MON-THURS GAMES FROM JUNE 1 THRU SEPT 25, EXCLUDING SUBWAY SERIES GAMES (8/1, 8/2). Complimentary tickets will be in the Promenade Reserved and subject to availability.

Sounds like it. So it's buy Sunday tickets AND a $31 laminated pass to get your kid to run the bases without missing the 7th through 9th innings. Plus we'll throw in an April night game vs the Philles.

Re: Going to the Game 2016

My create-a-plan went awry this morning when I shlepped out to Citifield, walked into the (open) ticket office only to find they don;t sell tickets there until March. WTF? Ticket office is open, they just don't sell tickets there.

I'm morally opposed to per-ticket convenience fees, and since my strategy is to buy largely nondescript Tuesday-night games, I figure we'll be able to get them fee-free then.

But something is wrong when I walk into Fred Wilpon's building trying to spend something like $1,000 and getting turned away.

Re: Going to the Game 2016

ticket game is a racket for sure. Between the 2-3 different proprietary systems (tickets.com, ticketmaster and..one other i think) and the secondary StubHub crap, they've got us over a barrel of fees with nowhere to go.

Hell the fees are to a point that you might just be able to make profit buying a bunch of tickets at the window and reselling the hot matchups for a lot, and still recoup face-value costs on the other games by virtue of not paying those feeds.

Still looking for input on Port St. Lucie, tips on what side of the park to sit on where we might find more shade for a typical day game. Thanks all.

there is no shade.

You might grab some if you're directly behind home plate from the stadium behind you, but that's probably it. or if you're sitting at the Tiki Hut in LF.

LF is closest to the Mets bullpen which is obviously right up against the stands. has the Tiki Hut. RF has the berm.
