Sometimes You Can't Hate the Yankees

Steinbrenner stars in weepy tv movie.

Good for the kid, very cool of him.

Very kool of the old general.

Yea, that kid has learned about karma at a young age.

As much as it pains me to say it...

Good of Steinbrenner to recognise the youngster's personal sacrifice. Good show by both of them.

MFY'S

Can't the Team Plane go down already

metirish
Feb 14 2006 12:10 AM

Dude if the team plane went down who would we root against?, plus can you imagine all the freaking movies they would make about the MFY?...

Elster88

irish, you have to get over hating the Yankees so much. You're embarrasing me. You make Bret look right.

metirish
Feb 14 2006 09:05 AM

No I won't get over it, and I don't care who I embarrass and Bret is never right.

Ok...how does a 13 year old save $1,000? When I was thirteen I think the highest total I ever reached might have been, oh, $30 or so.

Did newscarriers get a huge bump in pay? Has the going rate on lawn mowing/leave-raking spiked? What gives?

Johnny Dickshot

This doesn't make me hate the Yankees any less.

Definitely from the tooth fairy.

Or drug sales.

Bar Mitzvah?

metirish
Feb 14 2006 11:22 AM

Bar Mitzvah? -- in Arkansas?

Centerfield
Feb 14 2006 11:28 AM

Perhaps I'm too cynical...the $1,000.00 (kids never have $1,000.00, they have $827.42, they have $924.86, they NEVER have $1,000.00)...the way it conveniently found it's way to Steinbrenner's desk...if I had to guess, I would say it's more likely a publicity stunt than it is a feel-good story.

And for the record, 83 is right. You can always hate the MFY's.

A guess.

Jews in Arkansas.

Latest data I found shows .1% Jews in Arkansas as of 1990.

By the way, you look for demographics related to Judaism on the internet, you'll find a lot of nasty shit. One hate site I stumbled across included the subtitle, "This is not a hate site." If you say so, Herr Goebbels.

Maybe I'm just selfish, but what idiot donates a grand to their school when they're 13? What a loser.

seawolf17
Feb 14 2006 03:14 PM

Who would you rather give a thousand dollars to? A non-profit organization, or George Steinbrenner? Hell, I started twitching when I bought $30 in Yankee Bucks for my MFY fan friend's 30th birthday.

Elster88
Feb 14 2006 03:16 PM

Why not keep it? He's 13 years old.

Don't be mean to the 13 year-olds. They might be sharpie's kids.

And where's your Guns N' Roses set list?

]And where's your Guns N' Roses set list?

Elster is like way too busy complaining about stuff to make a list.

Elster88
Feb 14 2006 03:27 PM

I'm not complaining. Just stating that normal 13 year olds spend their own money.

ScarletKnight41
Feb 14 2006 03:59 PM

My almost 13-year-old gave a portion of his Bar Mitzvah money to the American Jewish World Services. But it wasn't $1,000.

Elster88
Feb 14 2006 04:26 PM

I should clairfy, I don't think there's anything wrong with a kid donating money. But it sounds like this kid saved up $1,000, which I'm guessing took a while, and then just decided to give it all away.

Keep it man. It's not your job to support your school. Throw them $25.

KC
Feb 14 2006 04:34 PM

So some silver spooned son of a ship builder who has a long history of being
an obnoxious ass who happens to own the most wretched team in the history
of organized sports is gonna let some kid who is dumb enough to part with four
figures of hard saved dough come see the Yanks play and give him a jersey that
they make in China for prolly $4 and I can't hate the Yankees?

I don't think so.

Much anger has this one.

KC
Feb 14 2006 04:49 PM

No need to single me out, there's plenty enough hostility on this board. Some
of it truthfully blunt, and a lot it much more subtle.

Trust me, I don't hate too many things -- but the MFY's are pretty close to
the top of my "hate" list.

Elster88
Feb 14 2006 04:51 PM

Yo KC. Make your Natalie Portman pic smaller.

KC
Feb 14 2006 04:57 PM

Fits fine on my screen, Mr. Mayor.

Elster88
Feb 14 2006 04:58 PM

I knew if I said that you wouldn't like it. You are very touchy when people tell you what to post.

But you're right, no one died and made me king of pictures of hotties.

KC
Feb 14 2006 05:07 PM

I don't recall anyone telling me what to post, so I don't know what your
touchy beef is - or really care either.

My screen resolution is set at 1024 x 768, this is 2006 afterall, and that's
a pretty fair minimum to expect on a desktop and Portie fits just fine.

Elster88
Feb 14 2006 05:13 PM

Touchie beef? I don't have one.

And I don't care if you don't care.

Anyone have the key to the steel cage?

We need some excitement while we're waiting for news from Spring Training.
Go at it, guys. :)

Alrighty then ... Willet thinks I'm angry, Elster88 beefs about my being touchy
but denies having a beef, and MFS62 wants us all to get down in the squared
circle for a steel cage death match.

I barely post much, and have been spending less and less time here.

Carry on, enjoy.

Elster88
Feb 15 2006 09:00 AM

KC. All I said was that you get touchy if people tell you what to post. I'm not angry because of it, I don't have a beef because of it, I'm not touchy because of it. I was merely stating it.

Please continue to post and enjoy yourself.

KC

E88: >>>KC. All I said was that you get touchy if people tell you what to post.<<<

Dude, you're weirding me out. Do you like to be told what to do on an internet
board by a stranger? At what point does it become touchy? I can't respond at
all, a bit, not too much, just a little, more, a little more than more, go completely
ape shit everytime someone mentions my name or post content?

And yes, now I'm aggravated - I have to watch my BP - I hope you're happy.

I don't know how else to say it.

I have noticed in the past that you don't like being told what or how to post. So when I said to shrink the picture, I figured you would say something slighty snarky, like you did with "Mr. Mayor". But I agree with you that this is a normal reaction, and like you said, a stranger telling someone what to do is annoying.

Right off the bat, I actually pointed out that there was no reason for me to try to tell you what to do. There is nothing to get aggravated about here.

Watch that BP. If you got weirded out or aggravated over my innocuous posts in this thread, then you might actually die if someone ever curses you out or something.

Without taking sides, I just wanted to point out that KC is a really, really big guy.

May I suggest a new strategy? Let the wookie win...

And to be clear, I'm not calling KC a wookie.

Because KC is a really, really big guy.

Like most wookies, I sometimes have trouble conveying to people that I'm joking -
especially with a keyboard.

Wookie Wilson would make a good screen name.

How did the characters from Mutts get into Star Wars?

PS - Wookie Wilson, I love it!

PPS - I wasn't singling KC out, but he maybe he already knows that. I can never tell when he's jokey pissed and really pissed.

Folks, we're losing the sight of something very important.

We have many members with young children, or children on-the-way.
One day the parents may look to the CPF for guidance about how to raise them properly, and we shouldn't mislead them by posting threads with titles such as this one.

Let me make one thing perfectly clear.

It is always proper to hate the Yankees, no matter what the circumstances.

This has been a public service announcement.
