The Mike Hampton game? Had the same angle myself but about 400 feet higher.

That was me too, upper deck 3rd base side. My 5 year-old got interviewed by WCBS that night. Wish I had the tape of it because it was relentlessly cute.

Some kind of construction pallet of sorts, I guess. The visit was the day
before that last piece of Shea got knocked down. Toasting the ol' girl
with my Heineken keg can is a nice memory. I think I have a piece of
concrete somewhere around here. I shoulda thrown a big piece of the
pipes in the car. Wasn't thinking haha.

Wow, I have zero recollection of Pat Hentgen being the starter for that 2000 NLCS game.

I walked through there a couple of times. I remember feeling it was
weird or something how little space there was between them.

With the exception of Jay Payton's "Hold-me-back!" bit on the HBP, itself sort of manufactured drama, it was probably the least dramatic postseason game you could imagine.

Cards fell behind early, and went without a whimper. They were clearly whupped in that series.

I have zero recollection of Hentgen ever playing in the National League.

I do too. While I realize that, objectively, Citi Field is a nicer stadium, it will never hold the memories for me that Shea had. And of course I realize that's a factor of the generation I was born in. I do understand that younger fans will build their own memories at Citi Field.

Site of first Met no hitter and playing in a World Series does help.

Yes, but at my age, not very much. I'll never have youthful memories of Citi Field, and those are the kind of memories that stir up nostalgia.
