Re: The Kings of Summer (2013)

For a while, this film was trailer'd before everything I saw. The themes seemed appealing, but the music and the digital feel of the cinematography kind of made it feel inauthentic to me.

It seems to me, a film about cobbling some shit together and roughing it should feel a little more cobbled together and rough.

That's my review of the trailer, anyhow.

That's a pretty good description of the flick itself.

Some of the characters and lines were very funny, some of the sequences beautifully shot, some of the themes made sense but it wasn't altogether successful as a product.

One problem was the main character we're supposed to be rooting for is a complete dick; another was never completely selling the plausibility of their adventure. there are bits and entire subplots that don't do anything except be there for the lolz.

i am giving it 3.5 Ohios.
