Soothsaying for Sixteen: Travis Taijeron

I lurk. I'm Travis Taijeron, and I lurk around these parts. And my lurking tells me some of youse aren't impressed by your team's bench.

"Outfield reserve service got you down?" I think, "well please call my name!"

I'm Travis Taijeron, and just this spring, I learned that my last name has more-or-less two syllables and is pronounced "Tyrone." How about that? What I didn't need to learn is that I can hit. I out-hit all those other 51s last year, going deep for 25 homers and 71 RBIs, and posting .929 OPS — the highest for any Las Vegasino who appeared in over 70 games. You know how many guys the Mets carried in September? Thirty-seven, that's how many? I didn't even know any team ever approached carrying the maximum allowable roster of 40. You know how many were named Taijeron? Nada. That's bullshit.

I waited and waited for the Mets to call my name, but I didn't hear it. Or maybe I did hear it, but I thought they were talking to somebody named "Tyrone."

You start a conversation about "Most Productive Guy on Our AAA Team Who Nonetheless Doesn't Get Called Up," you're usually talking about thirty-somethings, but I was only 26. Twenty-six! Don't consign me to obscurity! I think I can help! What do you think?

Definitely hits homers but also effed up a lot for a professional ballplayer (errors, baserunning) that happened in front on Terry and everyone else in ST.

I'd be surprised if got any more than a brief look in September and not that unless he forces the issue - HARD - out in Vegas.

I got into 20 games and OPS'd at 1.060 this spring. You take the bad with the good. I'M JUST SAYING!

Re: Soothsaying for Sixteen: Travis Taijeron

I remember the old option rules, when you could keep a player in the organization for four years before they had to be added to the 40 man roster. Then, teams would take full advantage of the three full option years to make sure the player had enough experience to be brought up to the 25 man roster(other than for September call-ups). This meant that many players didn't "make it" until they were 24-26 years old. So I hope Travis will not be denied a shot because of his age.

I think he will be brought up this year. He's the only right handed hitting outfielder above AA who has 25 home run power and you always need some of those guys.
22 games, .278- 4- 14.

A few unimpressive AB's in September. At least we won't have to spell
his name in Schaefer voting with the new system in place.
